Faizon Brandon Emerging as Leader in Tennessee QB Race
Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon has emerged as the reported leader in the Volunteers' battle for QB1, according to On3's Pete Nakos. Nothing is official yet. Tennessee wrapped up its second and final preseason scrimmage Saturday, and Josh Heupel still would not name a starter afterward, saying the staff will evaluate who has earned the job and what is best for the team. Both Brandon and George MacIntyre have gotten extensive work with the first-team offense. RotoBaller currently has Brandon at QB35 in its CFF quarterback rankings, so the movement matters for drafts even without a formal announcement. Tennessee opens against Furman on Sept. 5.
