Ty'Anthony Smith Dismissed From Texas Program
Texas linebacker Ty'Anthony Smith has been dismissed from the program for conduct detrimental to the team, head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed Saturday. Smith was coming off a 2025 season with 60 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. He had also been competing with transfers Rasheem Biles and Justin Cryer for a starting job. Anwar Richardson first reported Friday that Smith was no longer with Texas. The Longhorns still have Brad Spence and freshmen Tyler Atkinson and Kosi Okpala in the linebacker room, but Smith's departure takes away an experienced piece of the rotation. For fantasy formats using team defenses, this is more of a depth concern than an immediate downgrade. Ohio State comes to Austin in Week 2.
