Jayden Reed Returns to Practice
Jayden Reed (foot) returned to practice on Thursday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. It's unclear if Reed was limited or a full participant, but the fact that he's on the field at all is good news for his chances of playing in the Week 1 season opener this Sunday against the division-rival Detroit Lions. The 25-year-old is working his way through a Jones fracture in his left foot and was listed as a DNP on the first injury report of the year. With all that said, even if Reed is able to suit up this weekend, there's a chance he'll be somewhat limited if he's still not 100 percent. Already a boom/bust fantasy wideout, especially after the addition of first-round rookie Matthew Golden, Reed would be a shaky WR4/flex starting fantasy option against Detroit. It's most likely that Reed will end up listed as limited on Thursday's final report. UPDATE: Reed was officially limited on Thursday.

Matthew Golden has Been "Phenomenal"
Matthew Golden has done nothing but impress since the team selected him in the first round out of Texas in April. "Phenomenal," one team source said of Golden's presence. "Makes a wow play every day." The 22-year-old is already listed as a starter on Green Bay's depth chart, and the Packers "aren't hiding their affection for him." Although the Packers will use plenty of two-tight end sets, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that Golden's "talent looks undeniable." With Jayden Reed (foot) up in the air to play in Week 1 against the division-rival Detroit Lions this Sunday, Golden could be a big part of Green Bay's passing attack right away, putting him in the WR3/flex conversation immediately in fantasy. Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams have also been banged up, giving Golden a clear path to opportunity.

Emanuel Wilson Playing Second Fiddle to Open 2025
Emanuel Wilson has officially been named the team's backup option to open 2025, ahead of teammates Chris Brooks and the injured MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring). Wilson was the Pack's second-leading rusher in 2024 (502 yards), appearing in all 17 games during his second professional season. The 26-year-old flashed as he spelled starter Josh Jacobs, and has rushed for over 4.87 yards per carry in each of his first two campaigns. His upside (and floor) will be limited while Jacobs has a stranglehold on the lead job, but at least for the early part of this year, he'll be the handcuff to own. This situation could become more fluid when Lloyd returns following the first four games, but Wilson will get a chance to run away with the second-string job while he's shelved, and is capable enough to do so.

Dontayvion Wicks Limited on Wednesday
Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (hamstring) were both listed as limited practice participants on the team's first injury report of the year. Meanwhile, Jayden Reed, who is dealing with a Jones fracture in his foot, was a DNP. Wicks injured his calf in late July and missed most of training camp and all of the preseason. However, the 24-year-old returned to the field last week and has a good shot of suiting up in Week 1 against the division-rival Detroit Lions on Sunday, as does Williams. Even if Reed is unable to play this weekend, Wicks would likely be the fourth-best target for quarterback Jordan Love behind rookie first-rounder Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs and tight end Tucker Kraft, making him avoidable in starting fantasy lineups. Wicks is only rostered in 1% of Yahoo leagues.

Jordan Love Not on Week 1 Injury Report
Jordan Love (thumb) is not on the Week 1 injury report and got in a full practice on Wednesday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Love had surgery to fix a ligament in his left (non-throwing) thumb early in the preseason, but he was back to full practice last week and is fully expected to start in the Week 1 divisional clash against the Detroit Lions this Sunday. The 26-year-old could be wearing a brace on his left thumb on game day, but he said it hasn't limited him at all on hand-offs to the running backs. Love will be active this weekend, but it will be a dicey matchup against pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson and Company, and he could be without one of his top receivers in Jayden Reed (foot). He's on the QB1/2 borderline for the first game of the 2025 season.

Jayden Reed Not Practicing on Wednesday
Jayden Reed (foot) is the only player on the roster who is not practicing on Wednesday, according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Reed had taken part in the past few practices after returning from a foot injury that had him in a walking boot during training camp, but he was seen standing on the sideline on Wednesday. He told Wood last week that his availability for the Week 1 season opener on Sunday against the division-rival Detroit Lions was uncertain. The 25-year-old is dealing with a Jones fracture in his left foot and is trending as a very risky starting lineup option right now for fantasy managers in Week 1. Reed is going to need to get back on the practice field later this week to have a chance of suiting up. If he's available against Detroit, he will be an even more boom/bust WR4/flex.

Matthew Golden Listed as Starting Wide Receiver
Matthew Golden is listed as a starter on the team's depth chart, according to Zach Jacobson of 247 Sports. Golden was selected in the opening round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas. Throughout camp, Golden has received positive buzz and has already begun to establish a strong connection with quarterback Jordan Love. In addition, wide receivers Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) have been dealing with lingering injuries, which have provided Golden ample opportunities with the starting lineup. Golden appears to have impressed the coaching staff enough to earn a spot with the first team. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Reed's and Wicks's status leading up to Week 1. If either wideout is unable to play, Golden could be in store for a massive target share in their season opener against the Detroit Lions.

Jordan Love May Wear Thumb Brace During Season
Jordan Love is still wearing a brace on his surgically-repaired left thumb, and he may continue to wear the brace as the regular season gets underway. "It'll be some weeks having to brace it up and just keep it protected," Love told ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "We'll play it by ear as I start getting into games and seeing how it feels, as you get back to live contact. But there'll be some time having that brace still." It's fair to assume that the brace may have a slight impact on Love's play, but the quarterback doesn't seem to have any concerns about how it will factor into his productivity. He's looking to shake off the struggles of last season, when he was dealing with nagging injuries and mustered a 63.1 percent completion rate while totaling 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The former first-round pick currently owns a fantasy ADP of 114, which makes him the 17th quarterback off the board. His price tag loosely aligns with RotoBaller's expert draft rankings, which have Love listed as the overall QB19.

Savion Williams Unlikely To Make A Consistent Impact In 2025
Savion Williams has suffered various injuries throughout his first professional training camp and missed all three preseason games. The Green Bay coaching staff had gadget plays in mind for the third-round speedster, but he has been unable to stay on the field. The Packers have a crowded wide receiver room, even with injuries to Jayden Reed (foot) and Christian Watson (knee). If Reed, who is questionable, misses Week 1, Williams still has first-round pick Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and Malik Heath to compete with for snaps. Williams may have a play designed for him here and there, but it won't be consistent enough volume for redraft fantasy managers to spend a roster spot on him.

"Tremendous" Training Camp for Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden had a "tremendous camp," according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. Additionally, Howe writes that it "might not be all that shocking if (Golden) quickly becomes quarterback Jordan Love's go-to wide receiver." Golden may see even more opportunities early in 2025 with fellow Packers wideouts Christian Watson (knee) starting the year on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list and Jayden Reed (foot) battling a Jones fracture in his left foot. Golden is the first wide receiver the Packers have selected in the first round since 2002, so the organization clearly believes in his talent. The 22-year-old profiles as a high-upside WR3/4 in redraft fantasy leagues.
