Byron Pringle 2022 Outlook: Former Depth Player Poised For Big Role On His New Team
2 years agoByron Pringle joined the Chicago Bears this offseason on a one year deal worth $4.125M. After spending his first four years with the Kansas City Chiefs, Pringle is finally in line for a starting role. Last season, the former Chief racked up career highs across the board with 42 receptions for 568 yards and five touchdowns despite only being on the field for 49% of the snaps. His small role in Kansas City was not surprising given the superstar talents of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce in front of him, however, now Pringle has the opportunity to be a focal point of the Bears' offense alongside of Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet. Despite a reduced role, Pringle showcased his receiving prowess last season and finished as the WR2 overall in target separation (2.33) and the WR10 overall in fantasy points per target (2.11). That number jumped to 2.49 fantasy points per target when assessed versus man-coverage, which was good for WR3 overall in that statistic. Pringle is certainly a capable receiver on the outside and in the slot (40.7% routes ran from slot in 2021), so look for the Bears to move him around the formation to create mismatches. Currently being drafted as the WR93, behind guys like Devin Duvernay, Amari Rogers, K.J. Hamler and Terrace Marshall, Pringle should be a late-round target in your fantasy drafts because he will rarely leave the field. Fantasy football is all about opportunity, and Pringle should have plenty of it.
