BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Outside of veterans Keenan Allen and Mike Williams (and TE Hunter Henry) the Chargers aren't offering reliable weapons to rookie QB Justin Herbert. Austin Ekeler is injured and with that, his pass-catching prowess is gone. That has allowed Jalen Guyton to be on the field for more snaps, but it is not that his usage has been overwhelming. What it's been though, is highly efficient.
Just a couple of weekends ago, in Week 4, Guyton saw all of one target but he caught that pass for a 72-yard touchdown down the field. Just that play gave Guyton 14.2 PPR points and helped him finish with the 77th-highest fantasy score of the week. Obviously, it was going to be hard to replicate that outcome once more, but Guyton was close to it this Monday. He was targeted three times against New Orleans, and although he finished with just one catch he made the most of it advancing the ball 49 yards again on just one play.
Guyton has yet to be targeted more than three times in a single game, but he's playing a lot of snaps already as the WR3 of the team and Herbert has shown he's got a strong-enough arm as to connect on deep throws. Guyton is just a deep-threat, boom/bust play these days overly dependant on scoring touchdowns to be a viable fantasy play.
That is why you should only target him in super deep leagues, or shallower ones if and only if Keenan Allen ends missing time. Remember the Chargers are on a bye next weekend, so add Guyton only if you have a comfortable room to stash him and we know more about Allen's back injury by the time your WW runs ahead of W6.
