Which Teams Could Sign Randall Cobb? Fantasy Football Outlook

Will NFL teams could sign WR Randall Cobb this offseason? Read the analysis here.

Randall Cobb has had a storied career over his dozen years in the NFL, but he has not really done many favors for fantasy football managers, especially during the past few seasons.

Cobb is a solid veteran slot receiver who can be rotated in and out depending on the passing package, and he provides leadership in the locker room. That is all fine and dandy when it comes to winning football games, but it does not help fantasy footballers win their leagues. Which is why Cobb has been on more waiver wires than fantasy squads over the last five years.

Cobb is a 32-year-old free agent who has lost one step, if not two. Yet thanks to a wide receiver pool that is way too shallow to dive into, an NFL team might spend a couple million on a one-year deal for Cobb. So which teams could sign Cobb before the season starts? Here is a look, starting with the obvious choice!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Which Teams Could Sign Randall Cobb?

New York Jets

We all heard the rumor that Aaron Rodgers had a wish list of players he would like to bring along with him wherever he hangs his helmet and that Cobb was one of the names on it. It should come as no surprise considering the pair have played together for the bulk of their careers and have become best buddies.

There is a 99 percent chance that Green Bay trades Rodgers to the Jets for a couple draft picks.  We all know this. Whenever it happens you would think the Jets could fit Cobb into the program on a cheap contract and pair him with newly-signed Allan Lazard, speedster Mecole Hardman, and super sophomore Garrett Wilson. The Jets traded Elijah Moore and cut Braxton Berrios this offseason, so the slot is wide open for Cobb to take over unless Hardman impedes him. This would be the best landing spot for Cobb because he would have Rodgers as his QB, but he would have to fight for time and targets.

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore spent $15 million to secure the services of Odell Beckham Jr. to upgrade a receiving corps badly in need of playmakers, so why stop there? The Ravens could use a dependable veteran like Cobb that Lamar Jackson can count on during crucial third downs.

If the Ravens want to go all-in with proving to Jackson that he should stay in the land of crab cakes instead of forcing a trade to take his talents elsewhere, Cobb would be a good low-budget get. He would not break the bank and could take the young Ravens pass catchers under his wing and show them the fine art of route running.

Green Bay Packers

Everyone assumes it’s a done deal that Cobb will follow Rodgers out the door and never have another Lambeau Leap again, but let’s slam the brakes on that theory for a minute.

The Packers already lost red-zone receiver Lazard and tight end Robert Tonyan in free agency and are lacking experience in their pass-catching corps. Bringing Cobb back on a cap-friendly contract to work with quarterback Jordan Love and the inexperienced receivers is not the worst idea. It is probably a good-to-great idea, in fact. I would not be shocked to see Cobb back with the Packers if he does not end up on the same team Rodgers does in the end.

The bottom line is fantasy managers cannot expect too much out of Cobb no matter where he signs. He has not cracked the 500-yard mark in any of the past three seasons and has not scored six touchdowns in a season since 2015. Feel free to take a flyer on him in deep leagues and as a low-cost option in DFS contests, but even if he reteams with Rodgers he is a fantasy longshot to have a major impact in 2023.
