Bryce Underwood's Job Security Not "Infinite"
Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood struggled mightily in the Week 1 win over Western Michigan, completing just 12 of his 22 passing attempts for 170 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. 75 of those yards and his only passing touchdown came in the final drive of the game, including the controversial Hail Mary with one second left. Following the game, head coach Kyle Whittingham didn't put all the blame on Underwood, but he didn't sound overly confident in him and wouldn't commit to him as the clear rest-of-season starter. "He's our QB right now," Whittingham said. "And it's not something that's infinite. At some point, we've got to turn a corner, and we've got to see improvement." Underwood was one of the highest-rated recruits in the Class of 2025 but has remained shaky as a pure passer through his first 14 starts. He'll face a daunting test in Week 2, as the Oklahoma Sooners travel to Ann Arbor for an SEC vs. Big Ten showdown.
