Matchday 11 UCL Fantasy Tips

Double Up on Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund's Attack

After an extended break during the playoffs, the Catalans are back on the fantasy screen. Barcelona leads the Champions League goal-scoring charts with 28 goals scored, averaging 3.5 goals per match. The five-time UCL champions are also dominating in the Spanish La Liga with 71 goals this season.

Matchday 11 presents an excellent opportunity to double up on Barcelona's formidable attack as they travel to face SL Benfica this Wednesday.

Since Nico Kovac was appointed Borussia Dortmund manager four weeks ago, there has been a significant change in form for the Black and Yellows. Dortmund has scored 11 goals in their previous five matches across all competitions, conceding only twice.

Compared to the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund is currently ranked third for most goals scored (25) and will be eager to display their attacking prowess against the next opponent, Lille, who conceded four goals to Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend.

For the first leg of the Round of 16, UCL Fantasy managers are recommended to target any of Barcelona's and Borussia Dortmund's attacking assets.

According to goal projections, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are expected to produce 2.10 xG and 1.85 xG (expected goals) against their opponents in the second leg of the playoffs.

Recommended UCL Fantasy Assets for Attacking Returns

  • Barcelona: Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Jules Kounde.
  • Dortmund: Serhou Guirassy, Karim Adeyemi, Pascal Gross, and Ramy Bensebaini.

Matchday 11 Top Captain Picks

The Champions League midweek fixtures present many fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Ollie Watkins against Club Brugge and Mohamed Salah facing Paris Saint-Germain all present strong cases. However, our top three picks across the playoffs, second legs are:

Kylian Mbappe (€10.9m) - Real Madrid

Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick against Manchester City on Matchday 10, has entirely adopted the number 9 role at Real Madrid and now scored seven Champions League goals this season.

The 26-year-old Frenchman boasts a goal record of 55 goals scored in 83 UCL appearances. Mbappe will be looking to step up in a high-stake encounter against Atletico Madrid and is favored as our RotoBaller captain of the week.

Serhou Guirassy (€8.2m) - Borussia Dortmund

The Guinean international tops the goal-scoring charts with 10 goals and has put his name into our top captaincy rankings this week. Serhou Guirassy was unlucky not to score in Matchday 10 after missing a penalty, marking his first blank this season.

The 28-year-old is eager to extend his goal record in the Champions League. With the Black and Yellows hosting LOSC Lille at the Signal Iduna Park this week, Guirassy is a compelling candidate for the captain's armband for our Tuesday fixtures.

Robert Lewandowski (€9.6m) - FC Barcelona

In the Spanish La Liga, Lewandowski has scored 21 goals in 24 appearances for Barcelona, averaging 0.98 xG (expected goals) per 90 minutes. Barcelona's next match against Benfica is a rematch of Matchday 7, when Lewandowski scored twice in a 4-3 victory against the Eagles.

The 36-year-old is one goal behind leading goal scorer Serhou Guirassy and has his sights on winning the Golden Boot award this season. To that end, Lewandowski is a strong contender for the captain's armband for the Wednesday fixtures.

Differential Captain Pick (<10% ownership)

Lautaro Martinez (€9.4m) - Inter

Lautaro Martinez, Inter's top scorer, is a strong candidate for leadership this week due to Feyenoord's poor defensive record in the Champions League. This season, Feyenoord has conceded the most goals (22), ranking fourth in the competition.

Wednesday's early kick-off against a defensive-minded Inter team will be a tricky tie for their Dutch opponents to get through; however, Martinez may find it considerably easier to score against Feyenoord.

According to player goal projections, Martinez is expected to produce a 0.53 xG (expected goals) in Matchday 11. With only 6 percent ownership to his name, Martinez 'The Bull' is an excellent differential captain option this week.
