FFPC Dynasty League Buy and Sell Candidates: The Engel Eye

davante adams fantasy football rankings NFL DFS lineup picks

Scott Engel provides lists of players to buy and sell in dynasty formats in the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC).

The Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) dynasty league trade deadline is looming, at the kickoff of Week 12 NFL games. Time is running out to consider what players you should acquire to help you win this season or in the future. You may also be thinking about moving players who may not perform up to expectations the rest of the year, or  dealing away those who could bring you a nice return if there is an eye on 2022 instead of this season.

We provide lists of players to acquire and trade in various situations in the FFPC and all dynasty leagues. Making deals in dynasty leagues, though, will not be quite the same as trading in yearly formats. Dynasty players are usually more savvy, and you won’t get away with lopsided offers in your favor in most cases. Of course, all potential trade partners and situations are unique, and we do outline some you can take advantage of.

Do keep the FFPC site bookmarked, as there will be opportunities to participate in NFL Playoff contests and join new dynasty leagues very soon. More info on special FFPC promotions for RotoBaller readers is available here.

FFPC Dynasty Players to Acquire and Move Now

Get 'Em

-Allen Robinson is a free agent after this season. Most of us dynasty players are well aware of the situation, and if you have someone that another league mate may want or need, make the forward-looking move. If your team is falling out of contention, trade away a player who can help another team in their playoff push in exchange for Robinson and you will have an ideal transaction. You help the other team increase their postseason chances and can really help your future WR outlook, as Robinson likely looks for a situation with an established QB on a winning NFL team after 2021.

-Donovan Peoples-Jones has flashed big-play ability, but most view him as boom or bust right now. Peoples-Jones will have a real opportunity to become a bigger part of the Browns offense in the weeks ahead, and he is Cleveland’s only true downfield threat. Peoples-Jones could be viewed as an upside WR3 play by end of the year, and you might consider starting him during a playoff drive.

-Stefon Diggs is fantasy WR21 heading into Week 10. He has certainly disappointed compared to where he was drafted. In fact, some fantasy teams who have started to fall out of contention may believe Diggs is part of the problem. They drafted him as a WR1, but he has one 100-yard game and three TD catches. Diggs is certainly capable of better production as the Bills straighten out things on offense after a bad week and start making sure they get their best playmaker the ball more often.

-Courtland Sutton has eight catches for 117 yards and no TDs in his past three games. He has been very unreliable this season. But Sutton is a free agent after the season and will be two years removed from a major knee injury.

-The person with Russell Wilson on their current roster may be feeling a bit uneasy as he returns from a three-game layoff because of a finger injury. He is also about to turn 33 years old later this month, which may concern them too. So now is the time to deal for Wilson. He could have at least another good two to three seasons left in him after he joins your team for a title quest this year. He’s not at an age that is truly “old” for a QB, and his durability was never in question before this season.

-D’Andre Swift leads all RBs in receptions (47) and is second in receiving yards (415). But he has yet to rush for 50 yards in a game, and there are some fantasy players willing to move him because of the disappointing rushing totals. Swift is still fantasy RB9 based on his receiving production, and he should become more of a goal-line producer in the future when the Lions improve around him on offense. Acquiring Swift now helps you this season and maybe even more in the future.

-Justin Fields and Trey Lance have disappointed dynasty owners significantly so far this season. Both of them still have very good chances to become fantasy stars in the future. Before Fields shows more signs of progress, or Lance possibly  starts for the 49ers later in the season, try to acquire either one of them now.

-Javonte Williams had a career-high 111 rushing yards last week, but he is still sharing time with Melvin Gordon and that may be frustrating some of those who currently roster him. Gordon is a free agent after the season, though, and 2022 should be the true breakout year for Williams. To land Williams, you are in the best position if you have a player of real significance that can help a contender, and take Williams back with an eye more on next season.

-The values of players are always lowered when they are injured, and in the case of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, he has missed time and also has been an overall disappointment to those who have had him on their teams so far in his career. Before Edwards-Helaire went down, though, he was showing true signs of improving as a runner, with two consecutive 100-yard outings. Edwards-Helaire was running hard and now is the time to make a play for him before he returns and possibly starts living up to the expectations that were bestowed on him as soon as he was drafted by the Chiefs.

-DeAndre Hopkins is injured and is fantasy WR19 right now. This might be the lowest his value will be in a long time. Even if he does not quite regain Top 5 WR status, Hopkins’s career track certainly indicates he can be a significant fantasy contributor later this season.

-Justin Fields will eventually be a consistently effective downfield passer. When he gets to that point, Darnell Mooney is going to be his top target. No matter where you are in the standings, you should make a move for Mooney now.

-Some fantasy players may worry about the health of George Kittle. But he did return with a 100-yard outing last week and can be a key piece of your championship puzzle.

Trade ‘Em

-Cordarrelle Patterson could bring you back a nice return if your team is out of contention. He has a career-high 737 scrimmage yards this season and leads all RBs with 459 receiving yards Patterson is 30 years old, which is not old for a guy who has played mostly on special teams and at WR, and he does not have a lot of wear and tear as a RB, either. But it took him until his ninth season to become Fantasy relevant, and there could be some skepticism about whether he will be able to match such a season in the future. Patterson is also a free agent after the season, and landing in a new situation could adversely affect his future outlook.

-Khalil Herbert’s appeal to some fantasy players in dynasty leagues may be too high, so take advantage of those who overestimate his value. He played very well when David Montgomery was out, but he is now relegated to second on the depth chart again. Montgomery should remain the lead RB for Chicago whenever healthy. I have seen Herbert moved recently in leagues for a satisfactory return because of how well he played before Montgomery came back. You may be able to get a decent player or pick back based on some unrealistic Herbert outlooks others may have. The Bears prefer Montgomery  as a pass-catcher and blocker.

-Keenan Allen still carries the name weight of a high-end Fantasy WR2 with some fantasy leaguers. Last week, he led the Chargers with a  season-high 12 catches for 104 yards. Those who have been patient with Allen might believe they were rewarded and will see more impressive production going forward. Allen may be overrated, though, fantasy wise. He has two TD receptions and did not reach 15 PPR points in four of his first six games this season. Allen could net you a nice return for a guy who is WR18 overall but is regarded higher by some.

-Miles Sanders could return from the IR soon and there may be perceptions that he will jump-start the Eagles running game when he comes back. The reality is that Sanders is unreliable Fantasy wise and has nine rushing TDs in 35 career games.

-Darrell Henderson is a good player to move if you are looking to build for the future and are starting to peer ahead to next year. Henderson is averaging 4.6 yards per carry and has seven TDs from scrimmage. But Cam Akers is aiming to return for next season, and will complicate matters in the Rams backfield.

-Jalen Hurts is fantasy QB3 right now. But if the Eagles continue to lose most of their games, he could be replaced by Gardner Minshew late in the year. See if you can get a taker that may be less aware or not overly concerned about that possibility.

-Carson Wentz is QB10 right now. He is looking healthy and has six games with two-plus TD passes and no INTs, tied for most in the league for such outings. If you can find a fantasy player in your league who believes in what he sees in Wentz, you could be able to swing a lower-level deal or land a draft choice, which is always a good asset. Trade Wentz if you have another good alternative at QB.

-The future is quite uncertain in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers may not be back next year, and Davante Adams is a free agent. There are no guarantees that Adams will land in a situation where he has such a strong relationship with a new QB. If you are out of it and want to get a bountiful future return, you should certainly consider putting Adams on the block. You may want to opt for a healthy trade return rather than dealing with future uncertainty. There has already been published conjecture that this could be Adams’ last season in Green Bay.

-Travis Kelce will turn 33 years old next season. It might be hard to part with the longtime best player at a thin position, but if you have, or can acquire another good starting TE, there are surely some fantasy players in your league who will still want him for all of his great accomplishments to date. Since Week 3, though, Kelce has one TD catch and has not reached the 70-yard receiving mark. His name will still carry a lot of weight with some of your league mates. If you are also rostering Dawson Knox or Pat Freiermuth, moving Kelce is something you must consider.
