Mookie Betts Injury Update

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts (wrist) was forced to exit early during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The superstar slugger suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a 98 mph fastball during Sunday's victory. Afterward, Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts said Betts won't require surgery on his wrist.

However, it's going to take time to heal, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect Betts back on the field anytime soon. In the meantime, Miguel Rojas figures to see increased playing time at shortstop. He's not a great fantasy option but could possibly help deep league managers.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Injury Update

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing for the next couple of weeks. The right-hander suffered a strained rotator cuff during Saturday's outing. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts mentioned that Yamamoto didn't suffer a season-ending injury but is certainly going to miss some time.

At the moment, it sounds like Bobby Miller is set to take the vacant rotation spot. He could be a possible streaming option for fantasy managers who are desperate for pitching help.

Corbin Carroll Injury Update

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (rib) was forced to exit early during Sunday's game. The 23-year-old will remain in Arizona to undergo an MRI exam due to rib cage discomfort. The D-Backs are hopeful it's a minor issue, but the MRI should give the organization a better timetable.

Fantasy managers will need to check back on Monday for another update but they should prepare a backup plan in case Carroll does miss time.

Anthony Rizzo Injury Update

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (wrist) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The veteran slugger suffered a right wrist injury when colliding with pitcher Brennan Bernardino who was attempting to cover first base. The expectation is that Rizzo will undergo X-rays to determine the severity of the injury.

Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates on his status. Oswaldo Cabrera came into the game to play third base while DJ LeMahieu swapped over to first base on Sunday. LeMahieu will likely see more action at first base if Rizzo is forced to miss time.

Max Muncy Injury Update

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (oblique) is reportedly progressing slowly in his recovery efforts, according to manager Dave Roberts. The left-handed slugger has been shut down from swinging a bat for at least the next week. The Dodgers haven't given a clear timetable for his return but fantasy managers shouldn't expect it to be anytime soon.

This is bad timing with the Dodgers also losing Mookie Betts (wrist) on Sunday. That being said, Cavan BiggioKike Hernandez, and Miguel Rojas should all see increased playing time going forward. None of these players have done enough with the bat this season to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.

Luis Rengifo Injury Update

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (wrist) was pulled from Sunday's game after being hit by a pitch in the wrist. He did undergo precautionary X-rays but avoided any major injuries. The Angels are calling the injury a left wrist contusion. It appears to be minor considering Rengifo told reporters after the game that he expects to play on Monday.

It's possible that the Angels hold out Rengifo for a few days until he's back to 100 percent. Fantasy managers should check back on Monday for an update.

Max Scherzer Injury Update

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Max Scherzer (thumb) is on the verge of returning to the big league rotation. The veteran right-hander threw 79 pitches over 4 2/3 innings during his most recent rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Rangers' manager Bruce Bochy said on Sunday that Scherzer would rejoin the Rangers as long as he bounces back well from his latest rehab start.

That being said, Scherzer could end up making his season debut at some point next week.

Bryan Woo Injury Update

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryan Woo (forearm) is scheduled to return to the starting rotation on Wednesday versus the Cleveland Guardians. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since missing his last start on Tuesday. Woo appears ready to go after getting a clean MRI on his forearm.

The right-hander has been fantastic with a 1.07 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and 24/2 K/BB ratio through his first six starts of the season.

Josh Jung Injury Update

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday. The Texas Tech product was placed on the 60-day injured list on April 8 with a broken right wrist and recently began taking live batting practice. This is a great sign as the former first-round pick is nearing his return to the major leagues.

Jung posted a .412/.474/.941 slash line with two home runs and one swiped bag through the first four games of the season and held a solid .266/.315/.467 line with 22 long balls and one stole base in 122 games last summer. Once Jung returns, he will serve as the everyday third baseman in Texas and should provide solid power and excellent counting stats batting in the heart of a strong Rangers lineup.

Willson Contreras Injury Update

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras (forearm) is set to begin his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday, per John Denton of MLB.com. However, it is still unknown if the 32-year-old will join Double-A Springfield or Triple-A Memphis. Contreras underwent surgery to repair his fractured left forearm on May 9 and could rejoin the major league roster before the end of the month.

This is quite impressive, as many did not expect him to return to St. Louis until the All-Star Break. Before the injury, Contreras was performing well with a .280/.398/.551 line, six home runs, and two swiped bags. When he returns, Ivan Herrera is expected to serve as the backup catcher, and Pedro Pages may return to Triple-A as a result.
