DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (1/22/20): NBA DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on January 22, 2020. Dale Johnson provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

The NBA has sandwiched a crazy amount of games in the beginning of this week. After 14 games on MLK day, we saw just one game on Tuesday which will be followed up with 12 games on Wednesday.

The stars are out with so many games in the slate. Let's jump into some picks in which you can build around.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 1/22/20.  You can also check out today's FanDuel lineup picks.  Remember to monitor injury news as the slate can completely change before line-up lock.

DraftKings DFS Guards

Zach LaVine - SG, CHI v. MIN ($9,000)

Ah, the critically acclaimed revenge game. LaVine will face his former team Wednesday while in the midst of a hot streak. LaVine has not scored less than 20 points in an NBA game since the calendar turned to the New Year (scored 19 points on December 30th). Also, of all teams LaVine has ever faced, he averages the most points (28.0) and rebounds (5.0) against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota is falling fast and is currently on a six-game losing streak. Over this span, Minnesota allows the best field goal percentage and sixth-best three-point percentage to opposing guards. LaVine has all the tools to dominate and show Minnesota what they have been missing.

Lou Williams - PG/SG, LAC @ ATL ($7,300)

The Clippers are entering the second leg of yet another back-to-back set this year. Paul George (hamstring) did not play Tuesday and is unlikely to play as he has missed six straight and seven of his past eight games. It remains to be seen whether or not Kawhi Leonard is rested, which would push Williams into the starting lineup for the sixth time this season. When playing with zero days of rest, Williams averages his highest points (21.9) and assists (8.1) compared to all other games when he rests for multiple games. This is largely due to the fact either George, Leonard or both players usually sit out. It also doesn't hurt that Atlanta allows the most DraftKings fantasy points to opposing shooting guards this year. Williams will likely continue being a walking bucket in this matchup.

DraftKings DFS Forwards

LeBron James - PG/SF, LAL @ NY ($10,800)

It is incredible how James, at age 37, can drop 15 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds, yet everyone knows this is a "bad game" for him. James faced a stingy Boston Celtics defense, but things get much easier in a place he has been very comfortable in. James and the Lakers travel to New York and face the Knicks in the Garden on Wednesday. The Knicks are running out of options on how to guard James with RJ Barrett (ankle) out and Marcus Morris (ankle) questionable. Following a loss this season, James is averaging 24.6 points, 11.3 assists and 7.6 rebounds. In a loaded slate, James remains one of the top and most consistent options.

Zion Williamson - PF/C, NO v. SAS ($5,000)

Are we finally lucky enough to see the debut of Zion Williamson? The official injury report is listing Williamson as questionable as he recovers from the knee injury, but all signs and reports point to him starting Wednesday night. Head coach Alvin Gentry stated Williamson will not be on a minutes limit, but he will see how Williamson reacts to play time and adjusts as needed. This is all speculation without any sample size, but this may be the last time we see Williamson with a price tag this low. The Spurs give up the third-most DraftKings fantasy points to opposing power forwards. They also allow the most assists, second-most threes and fourth-most rebounds to the position. Williamson is a punt play for this loaded slate with high potential in his debut.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Montrezl Harrell - C, LAC @ ATL ($6,800)

As mentioned earlier with Williams, Harrell also benefits from a back-to-back set. Harrell averages 23.6 points and 7.0 rebounds across 31.8 minutes per game when playing on zero days of rest. There is a very good chance of Harrell repeating, if not exceeding, this type of performance, especially against the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have given up the most DraftKings fantasy points to opposing centers this season, an accolade held by the Cleveland Cavaliers for most of the season. The Hawks even have Alex Len (back) listed as questionable which would put them in an even worse position from a center standpoint. Harrell looks like a solid center choice here, especially with a somewhat low price compared to his usual production.
