Todd McGill's DraftKings, FanDuel PGA DFS picks for the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. Picks for daily fantasy golf based on course history.
It was a rain-soaked mess at TPC San Antonio this past week. The Valero Texas Open had a ton of drama down to the wire, where Robert MacIntyre looked to pull off an insane comeback after making an eagle on the penultimate hole and lacing a drive down the right edge of the fairway. Whether it was a rain-soaked clubface or simply an untimely snap-hook, his second shot quickly tanked those hopes, leading to a third PGA Tour victory for J.J. Spaun; he, too, had a come-from-behind story of his own.
Up next is the creme de la creme of all golf events. That's right, it's finally Masters week! This year's tournament on the hallowed grounds of Augusta National is sure to be another historic event filled with all the pimento cheese, egg salad, and azalea cocktail buzzes we've been waiting for. It's the most course history-centric layout in professional golf, so without further ado... Class is in session.

2026 Masters Tournament
Rory McIlroy will have another chance to make history again this week after finally climbing the mountain last year. He'll try to become just the fourth player in the game to defend their title at Augusta National.
This week is also the return to action for a couple of leading tournament favorites who have been forced to miss recent events due to injury and personal events. Collin Morikawa is hopeful to tee it up after missing multiple weeks with a lower-back injury, and Scottie Scheffler skipped both Texas events to welcome the birth of his second child.
This will be the first Masters Tournament since 1994 without Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson teeing it up. Both men are dealing with their own health obstacles. Lefty's is thought to be tied to someone within his family, while everyone with a pulse has heard of Tiger's recent issue. Nonetheless, walking around Augusta is sure to have a different vibe without them in the field.

Augusta National Golf Club
Par 72 - 7,565 | Greens: Bentgrass | Designed By: Allister MacKenzie & Bobby Jones
By all measures, these famed grounds are thought to be the pinnacle of golf course design. The lively beauty and astounding effort invested into creating the most unimaginable conditions are synonymous with what it means to play in this tournament. However, with that comes a brutal test that demands perfection.
This is the ball-striker-heavy course of all courses, especially on approach. All of the past six champions have ranked in the top three in SG APP for the week. With the difficulty of hitting shots into greens, short game is a much more important stat than in most other tournaments throughout the year.
Greens are on the smaller side, but extreme contours and steep runoff areas create a "playing size" much smaller than the PGA Tour average. And just because you hold the green in some cases doesn't guarantee the comfort of staying there. It's all about where players leave themselves.
The way putts can get away from players here makes statistics in this area hard to rely on. It's more evident through birdie rates and bogey avoidance percentages, as fighting your way around this property is all about limiting dropped shots and taking advantages of well-placed shots.
The other main point of interest this week is par-5 performance. Green Jacket winners typically feast on them, usually -8 to -12 under par on those four holes alone throughout the four days. Most of the nitty-gritty separation happens on par-4s, but failing to take advantage of the scoring holes is an easy way to thwart any contention hopes.
Recent Masters Champions
- 2025: Rory McIlroy (-11)
- 2024: Scottie Scheffler (-11)
- 2023: Jon Rahm (-12)
- 2022: Scottie Scheffler (-10)
- 2021: Hideki Matsuyama (-10)
The Horse
Scottie Scheffler
- Notable Finishes: 1st ('24 & '22), 4th ('25)
It should be no surprise to anyone to see Scottie Scheffler as the horse for nearly anyone who talks about course history this week. Regardless of how his 2026 season has gone thus far, he has proved to be the one to beat when you roll down Magnolia Lane.
His world-class short game seems to reach even greater heights at Augusta, as he's averaging a ridiculous 1.14 strokes gained around the green over his last five Masters appearances. There is no denying that if he shows up this week, having worked the kinks out of whatever was dragging down his ironplay, someone will have to pull off something incredible to topple him.

It’s always fun to hit an outright, especially when it’s over 100/1 and with a player that has a story like Gary Woodland!

The Ponies
Ludvig Aberg
- Notable Finishes: 2nd ('24), 7th ('25)

It is remarkable to see how close Ludvig Aberg has been to winning a green jacket both years of playing in the most demanding test in golf. It has also, unfortunately, kindled the flame behind his notorious reputation for failing to get the job done on Sunday.
The Swede has gained over 12 shots on the greens of Augusta National. That type of production for a guy in his first and second time here is even more unheard of. It's evident to everyone that he has the overall package to win at nearly any time. And when he overcomes whatever has kept him from having more wins under his belt already, they could start coming in boatloads.
Patrick Reed
- Notable Finishes: 1st ('18), 3rd ('25), T4 ('23)

Yeah, that's right. Cue up the "Stone Cold" Steve Austin shattering glass intro for the most divisive golfer over the last couple of decades. Patrick Reed, whether you love him or hate him, is a lurking figure waiting to pounce on his next green jacket. Since his breakthrough win in 2018, the 35-year-old has had plenty of chances to become a two-time Masters Champ.
We haven't seen him compete in nearly a month, as he waits for reinstatement to the PGA Tour after leaving LIV Golf before its season began. He certainly seemed like a renewed player while winning twice in two starts on the DP World Tour. After 2025's Masters tournament being arguably the most well-rounded performance since his win nine years ago, things are looking optimistic for Reed ahead of Thursday's opening round.
Collin Morikawa
- Notable Finishes: T3 ('24), 5th ('22)
Collin Morikawa has withdrawn from the Valero Texas Open.
"He has some residual effects from the back injury at The Players." pic.twitter.com/NIsL29ZaLy
— Golf Channel (@GolfChannel) March 31, 2026
The only thing Collin Morikawa hasn't accomplished yet at Augusta National is a victory. He's had two close calls so far in his career, and the playing profile of the 29-year-old correlates too well here to think he doesn't have at least a couple more chances. Obviously, the biggest question mark heading into this week surrounds his health, as he has withdrawn from two consecutive events, beginning with his exit after the first hole of The Players.
Whether it be the possibility of lingering pain or the toll of not being able to keep the feel that had him looking like one of the hottest players in professional golf, but most betting sites are showing signs of caution about his chances, as he's fallen to 30-1 or more odds since the back issue cropped up.
If you look past the scariness of injury issues holding him back, Morikawa was looking like a no-brainer selection for the year's first major.
