Fantasy Football Injury Updates for Week 2: Christian McCaffrey, A.J. Brown, Jordan Love, Kenneth Walker III, Jordan Addison

AJ Brown - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Fantasy football injury updates and injury reports for QB, RB, WR, TE for Week 2, as of 9/14/2024, including Christian McCaffrey, A.J. Brown, Jordan Love, and Kenneth Walker III.

Week 2 of the NFL season has arrived, and, predictably, teams and fantasy managers alike are facing roster decisions as big-time players deal with injuries.

This week features quite a few fantasy regulars on injury reports, including San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, and Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, among others.

To stay on top of injury news, make sure to favorite the fantasy football player news page, or download the RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app for free. This is the latest as of Saturday, Sept. 14.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Christian McCaffrey Injury Update

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles tendonitis) already has been ruled out of Week 2 at Minnesota as the club considers putting him on IR, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

McCaffrey missing this week isn't a total surprise, but the dynamic back heading to IR certainly is not the update fantasy managers were hoping to hear. Backup running back Jordan Mason, who compiled 147 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, figures to be San Francisco's lead back for at least another week, and possibly longer.

Jordan Love Injury Update

The Green Bay Packers listed quarterback Jordan Love (knee) as questionable on their official injury report for Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Love's knee bent awkwardly on a late-game hit in Week 1 against Philadelphia, but subsequent imaging showed the Utah State product avoided the worst-case outcomes. Green Bay likely will start quarterback Malik Willis and move Sean Clifford into the backup role if Love cannot play.

Kenneth Walker III Injury Update

UPDATE: Walker has officially been ruled OUT for Week 2

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) is doubtful to play in the club's road game at New England, according to Pelissero.

With Walker unlikely to play, Seattle likely will lean upon second-year back Zach Charbonnet to anchor its running game. Kenny McIntosh figures to be the next man up behind Charbonnet.

A.J. Brown Injury Update

UPDATE: A.J. Brown has officially been ruled OUT for Week 2

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) appeared on the team's official injury report on Friday ahead of the team's "Monday Night Football" date against Atlanta.

The sixth-year receiver was limited at practice, so his status will be worth monitoring. DeVonta Smith would become Philly's top target if Brown's status is in doubt.

Nico Collins Injury Update

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (illness) will play in the Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears, according to Aaron Wilson of KRPC in Houston.

Collins missed some practice time this week, but the illness doesn't appear to be anything serious. The Texans' receiving leader through one week should continue to be a main target for quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Russell Wilson Injury Update

The Pittsburgh Steelers will again list quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) as questionable, according to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.

The veteran quarterback, who won the starting job in training camp, did not play in Week 1. The Steelers failed to score a touchdown with quarterback Justin Fields under center but kicked six field goals to beat Atlanta, 18-10. It will be worth monitoring whether the former Seahawk starts when he is healthy enough to play.

Marquise Brown Injury Update

Fantasy managers received bad news with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown (shoulder), who will undergo surgery and head to injured reserve, according to the team.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Brown's recovery will take "months, not weeks," which casts doubt on when Brown will next see the field. There was some optimism the former Arizona Cardinal could operate as the Chiefs WR2, but he now looks to be relegated to a depth role behind receivers Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, not to mention tight end Travis Kelce.

Jordan Addison Injury Update

The Minnesota Vikings will be without wide receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) when they take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic.

The Vikings' home debut will take place without two of their top three pass-catchers, as tight end T.J. Hockenson is on injured reserve through at least Week 4. Minnesota likely will lean on fellow receiver Jalen Nailor, who caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sam Darnold in Week 1, to pick up the slack behind top target Justin Jefferson.

Keenan Allen Injury Update

Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen (heel) is questionable for the Week 2 game at Houston, according to the team's official injury report. Allen did not practice all week ahead of the game.

The veteran receiver also was on the injury report before Week 1 but did play in the win against Tennessee and was Bears quarterback Caleb Williams' most-targeted player. The former Charger drew 11 targets but for only four catches and 29 yards. If Allen can't play, Rome Odunze and DJ Moore figure to see an increase in target share.

Rome Odunze Injury Update

Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze (heel) joins Allen as questionable for the "Sunday Night Football" date against Houston, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said Chicago will use warm-ups before the game to decide on Odunze. The rookie from Washington did practice on a limited basis Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday's practices, which is encouraging. If Odunze cannot go, Velus Jones Jr. and DeAndre Carter should see increased workloads.

Jameson Williams Injury Update

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against Tampa Bay, according to the team's official website.

Williams had a breakout Week 1 with 121 receiving yards and a touchdown. If Williams can't go, Kalif Raymond likely would start opposite Amon-Ra St. Brown.
