DraftKings College Basketball DFS Lineup Picks for 1/28/23 - CBB Daily Fantasy Advice

CBB DFS lineup picks DraftKings NCAA daily college fantasy basketball

Today's DraftKings college basketball DFS lineup picks for 1/28/23. Mike Marteny's CBB daily fantasy advice and lineup sleepers to help you win on DraftKings.

There are three big slates on our Saturday, but we will focus on the "main" one starting at noon Eastern. We start off the final Big 12(10)/SEC Challenge with West Virginia hosting Auburn. Minnesota heads to the 'burbs to take on Northwestern. Boston College heads down to Charlottesville to take on the Hoos. Louisville heads up to South Bend to take on the Irish. The last nooner sees Temple head down to Orlando to take on the Knights.

We begin the afternoon 15 minutes later at the Birdcage with Xavier visiting Omaha to take on Creighton. The 1 pm hour gives us Wake hosting the Pack. 2 pm gives us some more of the Challenge with Missouri hosting the Cyclones and Alabama heading to Norman to take on the Sooners. LSU is welcoming Texas Tech to the Bayou. DePaul welcomes Marquette down I-94 to Chicago. We close this out 15 minutes later with Houston hosting Cincinnati. This is going to be a good one!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 1/28/23, starting at noon Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at guard and forward, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CBB DFS Guards

Tyree Appleby, Wake Forest ($8,900)

Appleby struggled a bit to get accustomed in Winston-Salem after transferring from Florida, but he has scored in double figures in every game since December 2. The difference is that now Appleby has put up at least five assists in every game since December 17, a pedestrian foul-plagued loss to Rutgers. Since then, Appleby has played at least 38 minutes in all but one game and has racked up at least 30 DraftKings points against every team not named Virginia. We should see another strong game from Appleby here.

Cameron Hildreth, Wake Forest ($7,500)

When a guy still nearly posts a double-double on a stout Virginia defense, I take notice. When he follows that up with another strong game against Pitt, I see him as underpriced even though the price went up $500. Hildreth has at least 30 DraftKings points in six straight games after a disastrous foul-plagued mess against North Carolina three weeks ago. It may as well have been three years ago with the way Hildreth has played since. His defensive numbers are way up and he has averaged just over 18 points per game in that span.

Jaren Holmes, Iowa State ($6,700)

Iowa State didn't need Hilton Magic to take out K-State. They just needed Holmes. Holmes, the higher profile of the two St. Bonaventure transfers, scored 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting while dishing out seven assists. That tied his season-high in points and nearly tied the high in assists. The Cyclones get a bit of a break by heading to Missouri here, but Holmes has at least 20 DraftKings points in five straight games against the likes of K-State, Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma State. I'm not scared of Missouri slowing him down.

Brooks Barnhizer, Northwestern ($4,800)

One game is a fluke. Two games is a coincidence. Three straight games of at least 24 minutes played is a trend. Barnhizer has responded with 64.5 DraftKings points in 80 minutes over the last three games for the Wildcats. He appears to be firmly entrenched in the Northwestern rotation, providing us with a nice value play on a slate that needs one.

Also consider: Terquavion Smith, North Carolina State ($9,500); El Ellis, Louisville ($8,200); Tyler Kolek, Marquette ($8,000); Boo Buie, Northwestern ($7,500); Armaan Franklin, Virginia ($7,400); C.J. Kelly, Central Florida ($6,500); Jaeden Zackery, Boston College ($5,800); Caleb Murphy, DePaul ($4,700); Jahvon Quinerly, Alabama ($4,100); Isaac McKneely, Virginia ($3,900)

DraftKings CBB DFS Forwards

Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton ($8,800)

It's going to be a battle in the Birdcage today! Forward is comparatively weak to the guards on this early slate. This is a solid matchup for Kalkbrenner, but I like using him because he is an elite rim protector on the inside. He's a decent rebounder and a very efficient shooter, but his money (and our DFS money) is made by Kalkbrenner Mutombo-ing anything within three feet. He has 21 blocks in six January games. That's a lot of DFS points!

Taylor Hendricks, Central Florida ($7,900)

It's not often that anyone flirts with 40 DraftKings points against a team like Houston, but that's what Hendricks did on Wednesday. He has at least 24 DraftKings points in every January game and has at least 32 in each of the last four. The Knights are scoring a lot of points lately and Hendricks has been a huge part of that. They are going to have their hands full against Temple, but once again, I'm riding the hot hand.

Osun Osunniyi, Iowa State ($6,100)

Osunniyi still only plays about 25 minutes per game, but he has topped 25 DraftKings points in each of the last four games against elite competition in Kansas state, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Kansas. The former Bonnies are leading the Cyclones in their assault on the Big 12(10) hierarchy. This is a bit of a reprieve against Missouri and I like what I've seen from Osunniyi in the last fortnight. He is more aggressive on offense and still a good rebounder. Now, about those minutes...

Jerome Hunter, Xavier ($4,700)

Hunter is the direct backup to both Nunge and Freemantle, but he still plays between 20 and 25 minutes per game. He has scored in double figures in four of the last five games, including 12 against Creighton back on January 11. Hunter is a very efficient shooter off the bench and provides solid peripheral stats. He doesn't have a ton of upside, but his floor is higher than most in this range.

Also consider: Zach Freemantle, Xavier ($8,400); Oso Ighodaro, Marquette ($7,900); DJ Burns, North Carolina State ($7,000); Kevin Obanor, Texas Tech ($6,800); Jaylin Williams, Auburn ($6,600); Zach Hicks, Temple ($5,800); Jae'lyn Withers, Louisville ($5,000); Treyton Thompson, Minnesota ($4,200; if Garcia/Payne are out);
