Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving with an admission that drugs or alcohol were involved.
This reduced charge is commonly referred to as a "wet reckless" and is typically offered when the driver's Blood Alcohol Content is very low or the other evidence against them is weak.
We knew Addison was going to face charges, and we knew he would likely be suspended; however, now that the plea is in, we have more information to go by. So, what are his judicial penalties, and what can we expect the league to do in response? Let's dive in.

The Charges Against Jordan Addison
Addison was arrested on suspicion of DUI in July of 2024, where he was found passed out behind the wheel of his white Rolls-Royce in the middle of a public highway. There was no accident reported; however, after pleading guilty to reckless driving for driving over 140 mph in 2023, there are serious concerns about his ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
The Plea
Addison pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of "wet reckless," which simply means reckless driving involving drugs or alcohol.
Today , after careful consideration of the charges against him and all defenses, Jordan Addison decided to plead to a lesser included vehicular offense, commonly referred to as a “wet reckless.” As a result, Mr. Addison will pay a standard fine and complete two online courses…

The court ruled that in accordance with the plea, Addison will be on probation for 12 months, pay a $390 fine, and complete two online courses. Given his previous reckless driving charge, I am surprised that his license was not suspended; however, this could simply be because his previous charge was in Minnesota, and this charge is in Los Angeles.
Any suspension would have only been effective in California.
Will Jordan Addison Be Suspended?
The looming question that everyone wants to know is, now that Addison has pleaded guilty and been sentenced, will he be suspended? The short answer is yes. Despite Addison pleading to a lesser charge, the "wet reckless" is still an admission that drugs or alcohol were involved, and thus, he is still subject to a three-game suspension under the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy.
The policy states:
2.2 - The Commissioner will review and may impose a fine, suspension, or other appropriate discipline if a Player is convicted of or admits to a violation of the law... relating to the use of alcohol. Absent aggravating circumstances, discipline for a first offense will be a suspension without pay for three (3) regular or postseason games.
Given his plea deal, the NFL can now take action, and I would expect his suspension to be reduced before the start of the season and take effect immediately. Further, the language in the policy "absent aggravating factors" is worth mentioning because the league could consider his previous reckless driving charge in determining the penalty, and has the leeway to levy a harsher punishment than the three games set out in the policy.
Put more simply, fantasy managers should expect Addison to be suspended for at least three games, with the possibility for more. His current ADP of WR34 is likely to drop even further once the NFL hands down a suspension.
With the uncertainty of a first-year quarterback throwing to him in J.J. McCarthy, prospective fantasy managers might want to let Addison be someone else's headache for the 2025 season.
