Matthew Stafford 2020 Outlook: Has QB1 appeal as he returns from injury
5 years agoLast season, Matthew Stafford was looking like a great value choice through the first half of the schedule. Stafford had a 2019 ADP of 22 at QB, but after nine weeks, he was the sixth-highest scoring passer in fantasy football. Stafford seemed like he was headed for one of his best seasons ever, as he passed for 2,499 yards and 19 TDs in eight games. But multiple fractured bones in his back ended his season in early November. He also dealt with a hip issue. Stafford restructured his contract in the offseason and trade rumors surrounding him proved to be nothing more than noise. All indications are that he will be ready for the 2020 season while retaining his top weapons, Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones. The Lions are looking to finally add more offensive balance with the drafting of D’Andre Swift, so Stafford may not have to carry the offense quite as much as he did during the first half of last season. Still, savvy Fantasy players are recognizing Stafford for his half-season production heading into the new season, as he has a respectable ADP of 91. The RotoBaller staff ranks Stafford as QB13. He certainly has at least back-end QB1 promise for this season, so that ranking is fitting. Stafford can be good for 4,500 plus yards and 30 TD passes in 2020.
