In this article, we will look at five of the best trade candidates in Week 12 of the fantasy baseball season. This list will feature three buy-low options and two sell-high options. The buy-low players have been underperforming in recent weeks, while the sell-high players have been overperforming for most of the season. 

So, which players should we buy and sell for Week 12 of the fantasy baseball season? Let's dive in and find out.

Undervalued Fantasy Baseball Players to Trade For

Marcell Ozuna, DH, Atlanta Braves 

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna was a big-time steal in drafts last season. He hit .302 with 39 home runs and 104 RBI across 162 games in 2024. However, Ozuna hasn't been as strong of a fantasy option this year. The veteran is slashing .253/.388/.422 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI in his first 67 games.

More importantly, Ozuna has been scuffling at the plate in recent weeks. The three-time All-Star has just six hits over his last 47 at-bats (.128 batting average) to go with two extra-base hits and 10 RBI since June 3. This rough stretch makes him a prime buy candidate right now.

Ozuna will likely finish with above-average numbers in several categories, including runs scored, home runs, RBI, and batting average. While those numbers are down to start the season, fantasy managers should expect much better production from him moving forward. His expected slugging (.491), hard-hit rate (51.4%), barrel rate (12.1%), and walk rate (17.7%) all rank extremely well.

As a result, Ozuna is a fantastic player to buy low in Week 12. His metrics suggest better days are ahead, and there's a strong chance the slugger finishes with over 30 home runs for the third straight year. Now might be the only time to acquire a power bat like this.

Steven Kwan, OF, Cleveland Guardians

There's a possibility that Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan is dealing with some type of nagging injury. He was removed from a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 28 due to right wrist inflammation and left Cleveland's most recent game on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after just two at-bats. 

Although Kwan hasn't missed any extended time during this span, that wrist injury could be a major reason why the outfielder has struggled at the plate in recent weeks. The 2024 All-Star is batting just .211 with one home run, one double, three RBI, and one stolen base across 11 games in the month of June. 

It has no doubt been a rough few weeks for Kwan. He hasn't been able to do much since injuring his wrist back at the end of May, and his batting average has dropped from .311 to .300. However, the 27-year-old is a nice buy-low target in Week 12 of the fantasy baseball season. 

Kwan contributes a little bit of everything for fantasy managers while maintaining a high batting average. With a 36.8% squared-up rate, an 8.2% whiff rate, and a 37.9% launch angle sweet-spot rate, he is someone you should be looking to acquire right now. The Guardians outfielder will likely finish with around a .300 batting average, 15 home runs, 50 RBI, and 18 stolen bases by the end of the season. 

Brendan Donovan, 2B/OF, St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis Cardinals utility specialist Brendan Donovan didn't play much last week as he dealt with a nagging toe injury. That caused him to miss four games from June 11 to June 14 before returning to action on Sunday, June 15. On top of dealing with that toe issue, Donovan is also in a bit of a slump at the plate. 

He is batting just .217 with two doubles, two RBI, and five walks in his past 12 games dating back to May 30. This recent stretch is the perfect time to make a move for the second baseman. Donovan is still batting .313 on the season and will likely finish with solid all-around numbers in 2025. 

His expected batting average (.305), wxOBA (.367), launch angle sweet-spot rate (41.2%), and squared-up rate (35%) all rank in the 81st percentile or better to start the season. With Donovan hitting third in the Cardinals' lineup, he should continue to be a strong fantasy contributor for managers. So, see what it would take to trade for him.

Donovan will likely finish with around a .300 batting average, 15 home runs, and 60 RBI this season. That makes him a nice trade target at this point in the year, especially since he has the potential to contribute in many different categories. 

Overvalued Fantasy Baseball Players to Trade Away

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, New York Yankees 

After struggling for most of the 2024 season, it's nice to see New York Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt bounce back. He is batting .309 with seven home runs, 14 doubles, 31 RBI, and five stolen bases across 71 games this year. Those numbers have made Goldschmidt a consistent fantasy option for managers in 2025. 

However, it might be time to start trading him away. He is only batting .184 across 14 games in June, and the return of designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton could mean less playing time for Goldschmidt moving forward. With Ben Rice hitting well against right-handed pitching, the veteran could find himself in somewhat of a platoon with Rice at first base. 

With Giancarlo Stanton back, the #Yankees are going to have a bit of a rotation in their lineup, Aaron Boone said. Hence Paul Goldschmidt not playing today for matchup reasons.

Additionally, Goldschmidt just isn't hitting the ball hard this season. His hard-hit rate (40.7%), barrel rate (7.7%), and average exit velocity (89.8 mph) all rank in the bottom half of the league. Therefore, the 37-year-old first baseman is a sell-high candidate in Week 12 of the fantasy baseball season. 

While fantasy managers shouldn't just trade Goldschmidt for nothing, it might be wise to package him with another player to upgrade at another position. There are definitely some concerns with the former 2022 National League MVP in fantasy. 

Andy Pages, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages has been red-hot at the plate over the past month and a half. The 24-year-old is batting .321 with 11 home runs, 41 RBI, and six stolen bases across his last 49 games dating back to April 22. This has certainly been a strong stretch for Pages, who has emerged as a solid fantasy option. 

Nevertheless, this is the perfect time to trade away the Dodgers outfielder in fantasy. Although he has posted solid numbers this season, some regression might be coming his way. His hard-hit rate (37.3%), chase rate (34.9%), and squared-up rate (23.4%) all rank in the 31st percentile or worse in 2025.

As a result, Pages' overall numbers could decline in the coming weeks. That's why fantasy managers should actively be looking to trade him away amid this hot stretch. He hasn't been hitting the ball hard this season, and his 8.1% barrel rate doesn't exactly rank well either. Now would be a great time to see what you can get for the young center fielder.
