TourPicks ranks his top-10 players to watch for at the 2025 WWT Championship at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, Mexico. Insights on the top-10 golfers for the week and reasons why they are primed and ready to win.
The PGA TOUR fall swing resumes, and players have descended upon the pristine golf resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, where El Cardonal at Diamante is set to host this event for the third time in as many years. We have a decent field on tap, but this event presents a great opportunity for those players in good form to nab a victory before the end of 2025.
Scoring was ridiculously low at El Cardonal in both previous tournaments, as thirteen total players were able to eclipse the -20 under mark or better for the week. Unless the weather gets gnarly, we fully expect this tournament to once again be another birdie-fest. These types of events have historically aligned better with some players than others.
As always, my primary goal with this article is to provide you with a starting point for your research and preparation for the upcoming week. I have carefully evaluated the field-to-project proper course fits and examined closely how players' incoming form has been in the categories that matter most here. Without further ado, here are my top 10 Power Rankings for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship.

No. 10 - Ben Kohles
- Red-hot iron play of late has been the catalyst of his improved results. Kohles ranks 2nd in the field in SG: Approach over the past 30 rounds played.
- He has been exceptional from the mid-iron range of 150-200 yards, a popular landing area at El Cardonal.
- Coming off a T20 result at the Black Desert Championship, where he continued his dominant ballstriking through the Fall swing.
No. 9 - Austin Eckroat
- Defending WWT Championship winner, Eckroat notched his 2nd PGA TOUR win at this event last year with a -24 under par score.
- He's been showing positive signs of better consistency OTT, gaining 2+ in each of his last three starts.
- A streaky putter but has performed very well on paspalum grass in his career. Eckroat ranks 2nd in SG: Total on courses with Paspalum fairways and greens. He's a good fit for Mexico.

No. 8 - Wyndham Clark
- Pure upside pick here on Clark, who struggled to find any form in 2025 thus far, but the former US Open Winner has top-tier potential.
- The ultra-wide fairways and minimal rough should provide the freewheeling Clark with the ability to crush his Driver. He's one of the longest hitters in the entire field.
- Has the ability to go very low and lap the field. He ranks 3rd best in the field in rounds where he gains atleast 3+ strokes over the last 30 rounds played.
No. 7 - Jesper Svensson
- An extremely long hitter with the ability of Clark OTT, but comes into this week in much better overall form.
- Svensson has three T16-or-better finishes in his last five total starts. He ranks 1st over that span in total driving distance.
- He's been making an abundance of birdies, and players will need to keep the pedal down and hunt pins in Mexico.
No. 6. Si Woo Kim
- Form has been spotty, but there is no player in the field that is a better middle-of-the-bag iron player than Si Woo Kim.
- His accuracy is a bit minimized on a wide open course like this, but he's a great par 4 scorer which should help him avoid any bogeys and going in the wrong direction.
- 5th best in SG: Ballstriking over the last 30 rounds. He'll be right there from tee to green, it's going to come down to the putter.
No. 5 - Michael Thorbjornsen
- As The Weeknd once elequently quoted, "I feel it coming." Thorbjornsen has all the talent in the world and flashing promising results over the last three months.
- Balanced stat profile, but plenty of power to take advantage of the wide fairways to get wedges in his hands on approach.
- 2nd best player in the field at making birdies on the Par 4's. Everyone is going to birdie the par 5s, but the players who can still score on the tougher holes will win out in the end.
No. 4 - Rico Hoey
- The Ballstriking continues to be world-class for Hoey, who ranks #1 in the field in that metric over the past 30 rounds played.
- His overall iron play is fundamentally elite, Hoey is -43 under par during the Fall swing in totality and has yet to get it truly going on the greens.
- The week when Hoey gains 3 strokes putting, he is likely going to win. These greens are the unique paspalum grass and pretty easy to putt if he can get that broomstick rolling in Mexico.

No. 3 - J.J. Spaun
- Ryder Cup player and reigning United States Open Champion, Spaun may be the most accomplished player in the field.
- He tends to be fluid with ups and downs, but Spaun can get red hot with his irons and score as well as anyone. He ranks 2nd best in the field in rounds where he gains at least 3+ strokes on the field.
- Surprisingly, he has some experience at El Cardonal. Two middling performances, but at least he has some reps at this unique course under his belt coming into this week.
No. 2 - Garrick Higgo
- Simply put, Higgo is on fire. He has finished 7th or better in each of his three tournaments this Fall and has his swing in great form.
- He's an excellent putter, ranking 2nd best in the entire field in strokes gained putting over the past 30 rounds played.
- Higgo leads the entire field in Birdie-or-better percentage on courses with easy scoring conditions. The winner is going to likely need -25 under par this week, and Higgo should be up to the task.
No. 1 - Ben Griffin
- 2025 was a career-defining year for Griffin, who easily ranks 1st in the field in strokes gained total this year by a wide margin.
- He's also one of the best putters, but he pairs it with exceptional approach play (4th best) which can be a deadly combination in birdie-fest style tournaments.
- Griffin played this tournament in 2023 and 2024, both ended in Top 25 finishes. A win here would put a bow on an incredible year for Griffin and he'll be a substantial favorite to pick up the trophy on Sunday!
Considering where he is today, it’s crazy to recall that Ben Griffin didn’t even qualify for this year’s Masters.
Since then, he’s:
- Had top-10s in two majors
- Won twice on the PGA TOUR
- Been picked for the Ryder Cup
- Is ranked 11th in the world
