Wide Receiver / Cornerback Matchups To Target in Week 11

Mike Riggall's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 11 of DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. These wide receivers should be tournament and cash game targets based on matchups.

In Week 10, the Buccaneers defeated the Cardinals in a game that featured a whopping 57 points scored between the two teams. Christian Kirk was expected to exploit the Buccaneers weak secondary, and he exceeded all expectations by catching three touchdowns, finishing as the No. 1 wide receiver on the week. On the other side of the ball, both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin did alright, but they both failed to score and fell short of what fantasy owners have grown to expect from them on a weekly basis.

Darius Slayton had an excellent matchup against the terrible outside cornerbacks for the Jets and exploited it, finishing as the No. 2 wide receiver on the week. As expected, Michael Thomas and Tyreek Hill received heavy volume in the passing game for their respective teams and both finished as top-five wide receivers. On the lower-end, Jamison Crowder continued to assert himself as Sam Darnold's favorite target in the Jets passing game and finished Week 10 with 19.1 PPR-points. Robby Anderson flopped again in Week 10 and if you haven't figured it out already, you simply can't trust him moving forward, even if he has a great matchup. At this point, if Anderson blows up you just need to let it happen and be okay with it, because he's not getting many targets, only catching eight balls over his last four games. Here is a complete statistical recap of the Week 10 recommendations:

Now, let's move onto the current week and find the best matchups to exploit for DFS tournaments and cash games. On the high-end, Michael Thomas ($9,000 Fanduel / $9,900 DraftKings), Mike Evans ($8,200 Fanduel / $7,400 DraftKings) and Chris Godwin ($8,000 Fanduel / $7,300 DraftKings) are all in play. The Saints and Buccaneers have very good rush defenses, both of which are giving up under 100 rushing yards-per-game, which means both teams will need to air it out in order to move the ball. With Marshon Lattimore set to miss the game, the Saints pass defense will be uncharacteristically vulnerable, which is good news for Mike Evans who was shut down by Lattimore earlier this season. The Eagles are giving up just 3.8 yards-per-carry on the ground this year which means the Patriots are likely to throw the ball a lot against them this week. This makes both Julian Edelman ($7,400 Fanduel / $7,600 DraftKings) and Mohamed Sanu ($5,800 Fanduel / $5,100 DraftKings) solid plays this week. The Texans and Ravens should put up a lot of points in a game that has an over/under set at 51.5 points, but I am mostly staying away from the receivers in this game because DeAndre Hopkins has a bad matchup against Marcus Peters and the other receivers, for both teams, are rather boom-or-bust. As detailed below, this weekend's main slate is packed with mid-tier wide receivers that have great matchups.

Week 11 WR/CB Matchups to Exploit

D.J. Moore ($6,000 Fanduel / $5,900 DraftKings) vs Isaiah Oliver

The Falcons secondary is banged up and has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers on the season. In nine games this season, Falcons cornerback Isaiah Oliver has given up 39 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns. Of those 521 receiving yards, 271 of them came after the catch. DJ Moore has nine or more targets in his last four games and has a decent shot to break a long one against the Falcons Defense especially given their struggles in the secondary.

Courtland Sutton ($6,600 Fanduel / $6,000 DraftKings) vs Xavier Rhodes

Despite having a reputation as a lockdown corner, Xavier Rhodes has struggled in coverage this season. He has now given up 43 catches for 482 yards and three touchdowns while in coverage, along with a QB rating of 121.3 when quarterbacks target him. On the season, the Vikings secondary, as a unit, has surrendered 15 or more PPR points to wide receivers 11 times, five of which went over 20 PPR points. The Vikings Defense has been lights out against the run this year and has proven vulnerable against the pass, so things are set up well for Sutton to get heavy volume this week.

Tyrell Williams ($6,200 Fanduel / $5,400 DraftKings) vs BW Webb

William Jackson is the only Bengals cornerback that has surrendered a QB rating under 100 when being targeted this season. BW Webb, and all Bengals cornerbacks other than Jackson, have been getting shredded by opposing quarterbacks. Thus, Tyrell Williams shouldn't have a problem in this matchup, especially since he has a five-inch height advantage over Webb. The only downside to playing Williams this week is that the Raiders Defense and Josh Jacobs could account for a lot of the scoring against a struggling Bengals team which means the Raiders may not need to throw a lot.

Pivot:Auden Tate ($5,300 Fanduel / $4,200 DraftKings) vs Trayvon Mullen

If you believe the game flow will work against Tyrell Williams this week, then Auden Tate is a decent pivot, and a much cheaper option at that. The Raiders defense is pretty good against the run this year, giving up just 3.9 yards-per-carry, compared to 8.6 yards-per-pass which is third-worst in the league. That being said, the Bengals will likely need to throw in order to move the ball down the field and are likely to be playing from behind for most of this game. Trayvon Mullen only gives up three inches of height to Tate which isn't a horrible disadvantage, but Tate has been making great, contested catches all season, and he should get plenty of opportunities this week.

Deebo Samuel ($5,600 Fanduel / $4,000 DraftKings) vs Byron Murphy

The Cardinals Defense has given up the second-most passing yards in the league this season, surrendering 286.5 yards-per-game through the air. The 49ers will likely be without the services of Emmanuel Sanders, George Kittle, and Matt Breida this week, which means things are set up well for Deebo Samuel to get a lot of volume in this one. Samuel is clearly the best 49ers wide receiver left standing, and he has the clearest path to success out of all the remaining receivers.

Pivot:Terry McLaurin ($5,500 Fanduel / $5,600 DraftKings) vs Arthur Maulet

Terry McLaurin has a fantastic matchup this week, going up against a Jets Defense that is surrendering the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers on the season. To make the matchup even better for McLaurin, the Jets rush defense leads the league, giving up an NFL-best 3.0 yards-per-carry and just 81.9 rushing yards-per-game, which means the Redskins will need to throw in order to move the ball. The proposition of Dwayne Haskins playing quarterback for the Redskins is scary, but the Jets outside cornerbacks have been so bad, you need to give McLaurin a shot, especially in light of the reports that the Redskins are likely to scheme him open this week.

John Brown ($5,900 Fanduel / $6,400 DraftKings) vs Nik Needham

John Brown is leading all Bills wide receivers in targets with 71 on the season. Back in Week 7 against the Dolphins, Brown was able to haul in five passes for 83 yards and a score. Since then, the Dolphins have been playing better football and the Bills running game has been a little inconsistent. This game should be competitive and Brown should be extremely active as the Bills look to rebound after their Week 10 loss to the Browns. Brown is Buffalo's deep threat at wide receiver and has a decent chance to hit a big one as the Dolphins Defense has given up 39 pass plays of 20+ yards which is sixth-most in the league.
