Top 25 Fantasy Baseball Prospects To Stash (Week 21): Redraft Rankings

Junior Caminero - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Eric Cross's top 25 fantasy baseball prospects rankings for Week 21 (2024). MLB prospects, rookies, call-ups who can be fantasy baseball sleepers in redraft leagues.

After a quiet last week or two on the prospect front following Coby Mayo's debut, we get two major promotions this week with Junior Caminero being recalled and Zebby Matthews making his MLB debut. Both had ranked highly in my stash rankings for a while now and it will be exciting to see what sort of fantasy impact they can make over the last month and a half.

But even with those two getting the call, there are still plenty of notable prospects left who we could see getting the call in the coming weeks.

Remember, stashing fantasy baseball prospects should be done strategically and varies from league to league. Don't leave your teams without much depth just because you want all the high-upside prospects on your roster.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings Analysis

Junior Caminero, Tampa Bay Rays

Finally! Junior Caminero has been freed from Triple-A as it was reported late Monday night that he will be getting recalled on Tuesday. It's about time and surprised me because I thought they were playing the service-time game which would've kept Caminero in Triple-A until the 25th of this month. Caminero was slashing .320/.342/.560 with five home runs over his last 18 games and belted 31 long balls in 117 games last season.

Overall, Caminero posted a 56.5% hard-hit rate, 93.3 mph AVG EV, and 11.3% barrel rate in Triple-A this season along with a 74.8% contact rate. He should get regular playing time down the stretch and has the power to make a significant impact for fantasy purposes.

Zebby Matthews, Minnesota Twins

The other big promotion happening on Tuesday is big right-hander Zebby Matthews making his major league debut against the Kansas City Royals. When combining ceiling and floor, I'm not sure you can find a better combination for a single pitching prospect than Matthews. In 97 innings this season, Matthews recorded a 2.60 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 1.9% walk rate, and a 30.5% strikeout rate. Yes, that's only seven walks out of the 374 batters that he's faced this season.

Matthews brings elite command and control over a dynamic arsenal, giving him the upside of a No. 2 major league starter and a higher floor than nearly every pitching prospect we've seen this season outside of that Paul Skenes fellow. Matthews needs to be rostered in all 10-team leagues or deeper.

Dalton Rushing, Los Angeles Dodgers

It's looking like the Los Angeles Dodgers are setting up Dalton Rushing to be a part of the big club down the stretch this season. In 10 starts for Rushing this month, seven of those have come from left field and he hasn't played catcher in over a week. A positional shift like this in Triple-A signals to me that the Dodgers are trying to get Rushing's bat into their lineup sooner rather than later.

Overall, Rushing has had a solid season in the upper minors, slashing .268/.378/.497 with 17 home runs in 83 games, but he's picked up the pace over the last three weeks. In Rushing's last 17 games, he's cranked four doubles and seven home runs with a .308/.410/.692 slash line. Rushing brings plus power and exceptional on-base abilities to the table and could see a solid run with the Dodgers over the final several weeks of the season.

Trey Sweeney, Detroit Tigers

We shift from a current Dodgers prospect to a former Dodgers prospect in Trey Sweeney, who is quietly having a nice season in Triple-A. In 105 games, Sweeney has racked up 26 doubles, 15 home runs, and 17 steals with a .267/.343/.448 slash line. And in nine games since coming over to Detroit via trade, Sweeney is hitting .400 with four doubles and a pair of home runs.

While Sweeney doesn't have the flashiest profile, he brings a decent power/speed blend to the table and only has Javier Baez and his .181/.221/.276 slash line in his way at shortstop in Detroit.

Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees

We certainly can't rule out Jasson Dominguez returning to the Yankees at some point over the final six weeks of the season, but he's not doing himself any favors right now. In 12 games since returning from the Injured List, Dominguez is slashing .149/.231/.192 and has yet to hit a home run. Meanwhile, the weak link in the Yankees outfield, Alex Verdugo, is hitting .290 over his last 15 games.

Colby Thomas, Oakland Athletics

Even after going hitless in his last three games, Colby Thomas is still slashing .295/.343/.632 over his last 24 games with 11 doubles and seven home runs. If any of Lawrence Butler, Miguel Andujar, or JJ Bleday go into a funk at the plate or get hurt, Thomas is likely the next man up, and his power/speed blend would be intriguing for fantasy purposes. Thomas has picked up 35 doubles, 24 home runs, and 14 steals overall this season in 100 games.

Boston Red Sox's "Big Three"

Just a quick note on the Red Sox's top three prospects -- Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Kyle Teel -- as the trio just got promoted to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. No, I do not believe any of the three are up this season. I'm not 100% ruling out one of them getting the call, but I believe it's highly unlikely as Boston has not pushed any of the three with all of them spending the entire season in Double-A so far. The more likely outcome is an early-2025 debut for this trio and not down the stretch this season.
