On Saturday evening, the NASCAR Cup Series held the qualifying session to set the starting lineup for the final race of the season, the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway.
This is the one that will determine the Champion for the season, and we have three of the four contenders starting first, second, and third, with Denny Hamlin on the pole.
The qualifying session consisted of just one round, as is the current protocol for many Cup Series races this season.
