DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (1/23/19): NBA DFS Lineups

It's about time we got back to the massive slates. With 10 games, there is no shortage of upside tonight. The Knicks and Rockets have the highest point total so far, but I think DFS players need to be aware of the upside in the Pelicans-Pistons game. Without Anthony Davis, look for a Jrue Holiday-led Pelicans to beat the Pistons. Bold prediction after New Orleans just lost one of the best players this decade, but I expect this to have a positive effect on the Pelicans frontcourt, specifically Julius Randle.

Randle is a capable forward and when he has the freedom to operate, he does so in incredible fashion. He can do a little bit of everything on offense, but his defense is where the only problems really come up. Luckily, there is only so much defense that you can play on Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin, so while they will both produce without limitations, I don't see it being enough to combat Nikola Mirotic, Randle, and Holiday from playing well and escaping with a win. Playing on the road doesn't impact the Pistons starters that much, but their lack of depth is going to cause them to struggle shooting.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 1/23/19. These DFS lineup picks can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on DraftKings.

DraftKings DFS Guards

Kyle Lowry - PG, at IND ($7,200)

The Raptors are dominating their season series against the Pacers and one more win solidifies a 3-0 advantage over Indiana. Lowry didn't have a big last outing versus the Pacers, but playing on the road, especially with Kawhi Leonard missing games here and there, leaves a ton of usage and shot attempts specifically for Lowry. Leonard hasn't played the last three games and rightfully so. We'd like to see more raw production coming from Lowry during this stretch and this is the first time this week he's facing an actual contender. It doesn't seem like the most promising position to play Lowry, but he plays better against tougher opponents and the more he has to shoot and involve his teammates, the better off we are rostering him.

Jordan Clarkson - PG/SG, at BOS ($4,900)

Luckily, it's impossible for the Cavaliers to score zero points, so you might as well roster the one person who is guaranteed offense tonight. Jordan Clarkson, like most value plays, will need to hit his shots to exceed his projected. That should be no surprise since Clarkson has been the only consistent option and even if he doesn't produce every night, he is still taking double-digit shot attempts regardless of how many minutes he gets. The Celtics were struggling before Kyrie Irving went into leadership-mode, and even if they have been playing better on offense, I don't expect anyone on their defense to specifically lockdown Clarkson. Even though the Celtics are going to crush Cleveland, Clarkson should have little problem filling the stat sheet.

DraftKings DFS Forwards

Justin Holiday - SG/SF, vs CHA ($3,700)

Justin Holiday has yet to have a big game as a Grizzly, but he's also already had his third, four-steal game out of a possible nine games with Memphis. It's clear that Holiday will fit the build Memphis is looking for long-term. Truthfully, if he was a better shooter, Holiday would be a clear-cut foundation piece. Realistically, his defense helps every team he is on and when he can knock down shots, he immediately becomes one of the better two-way players in the league. Charlotte has no one to really limit Holiday's rebounding upside and if he can convert from outside, this is going to be one of the top sleeper plays of the night. Holiday does most of his work on the defensive end, but with trade rumors speculating around Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, I am riding non-Gasol/Conley Grizzlies into the night.

Jabari Parker - SF/PF, vs ATL ($4,200)

Jabari Parker has been able to make something of his limited minutes, although it's a fairly intimidating DFS play. After dealing with a minor, mid-season shutdown, Parker has NOT turned this season around, he has simply found a way to get minutes after it was announced he wouldn't. His defense has been lackluster and his lack of effort on that side seems like the biggest reason for his benching. Even though that hasn't changed, the Bulls have basically given up on this season. The offense revolves, and will continue to revolve around Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and Lauri Markkanen, but Parker will still act as a security blanket when those guys can't get their shots. His price is actually way higher than what I expect him to produce, but for some reason, Parker scoring 20 against the Hawks in some type of resurgence game that shouldn't be a complete blowout seems more likely than not.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Enes Kanter - C, vs HOU ($5,000)

Enes Kanter missed out on the game in London versus the Wizards and responded with a medial performance versus the Thunder. He didn't really get the chance to exact revenge on his old team, but he did post 11 points in just 20 minutes. I would ignore the fact that he took 11 shots, but I think that speaks more favorably for him than against. Against one of the stingiest frontcourts in the league, Kanter took a ton of shots in limited time. The Rockets don't carry that same weight in the paint, giving Kanter has more upside against a less dangerous team. Dealing with James Harden in New York is going to be near impossible, but this game should be more James Harden versus the Knicks than anything else. The Knicks have been getting blown out all season, but I think this game might stay within arms reach, allowing Kanter to get back to his double-doubling ways.
