Najee Harris 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook: New Lease On Life After Terrible 2025

Aug 22, 2026, 11:30 AM ET

Najee Harris had a 2025 to forget. He started by injuring his eye during a freak fireworks accident, which ruined his preseason. Then after returning for the regular season, he tore his Achilles tendon in his third game and missed the remainder of the year. So his fantasy stock has never been lower. But Harris has rehabbed and is ready to go, and the New York Giants saw enough to give him a one-year contract. What fantasy players should not forget is that Harris ran for 1,000 yards in each of the first four years of his career before his disastrous 2025 campaign. He also scored 34 touchdowns over that four-season span. Harris is an above-average inside runner who can barrel into the end zone when near the goal line. He is not a greyhound (no 40-yard runs in his career) and is not going to make many tacklers miss at the point of attack, but he is a serviceable back who can prosper in a run-first offense with an above-average offensive line. With the Giants' RB1 Cam Skattebo recovering from a torn ACL and backup Tyrone Tracy Jr. better off as a complimentary piece, Harris has a chance to be involved in the rotation if he proves to be healthy. Just do not expect him to be worthy of a fantasy spot unless he is put in position to be New York's bell cow ball carrier.--Craig Rondinone
