RotoBaller's top 25 college football quarterback rankings for Week 14 of the 2025 season, featuring Fernando Mendoza, Julian Sayin, Byrum Brown, and more.
Top 25 College Football Quarterback Rankings For Week 14
We finally have some separation in the Heisman Trophy rankings. We have to give it to a quarterback this year since a non-quarterback won it last year. We finally have a couple of quarterbacks who have separated themselves from the pack. We may even have a new number one this week. There is a lot of movement on this list from week to week. The stats for a lot of these players aren’t far apart. I’m surprised that we had the same guy at the top for over a month. That’s an impressive feat, but we have those who are heating up when the chips are down.

25. Evan Simon, Temple
Last week: NR
Result: 21-32, 168 yards, 2 TD
Season totals: 179-286, 2,015 yards, 24 TD, INT; 70 carries, 184 yards, 2 TD
When it comes to taking care of the ball, Simon is elite. He didn’t throw his first interception of the season until Week 10. That’s still his only one. He’s not a high-volume passer, and he doesn’t pick up a lot of yards. He’s just moderately efficient, and he takes care of the ball. Simon may seem a bland choice at this spot when you see the players who didn’t make the cut, but 26 touchdowns to one turnover is an elite ratio.

24. Sawyer Robertson, Baylor
Last week: 19 (⇓5)
Result: 22-33, 162 yards, TD, 2 INT; 9 carries, -10 yards, TD
Season totals: 281-457, 3,372 yards, 30 TD, 11 INT; 52 carries, 4 yards, 3 TD
It’s really hard to rank a guy like Robertson. He’s fourth in FBS in passing yardage and tied for first in touchdown passes. He’s also added a few more on the ground. It’s those interceptions. 11 interceptions is tied for sixth-most in FBS with the likes of Taylen Green and Ta’Quan Roberson. It’s hard to ignore those massive numbers, but I really do cherish not turning the ball over. That’s why Caden Veltkamp isn’t on the list.

23. Avery Johnson, Kansas State
Last week: 23 ⇔
Result: 12-23, 102 yards, TD, INT; 12 carries, 72 yards, TD
Season totals: 194-324, 2,270 yards, 18 TD, 6 INT; 102 carries, 441 yards, 8 TD
It’s odd that in the game in which Kansas State set a school record for rushing yards that Johnson only ended up with 72 of them. That’s not even his highest total of the season! Johnson and the Wildcats nearly knocked Utah out of the playoff hunt. Actually, maybe they did. The Utes dropped a spot in the CFP rankings despite pulling out the win.
22. Demond Williams Jr., Washington
Last week: NR
Result: 17-26, 213 yards, 2 TD, INT; 6 carries, 56 yards, 2 TD
Season totals: 216-300, 2,721 yards, 19 TD, 6 INT; 121 carries, 568 yards, 6 TD
Williams picked up four touchdowns in the rout of UCLA. His lower touchdown total has kept him at the bottom of this list lately. It’s hard to find a flaw with Williams in his first full season. It’s safe to say that Williams has fulfilled the promise he showed at the end of last season.
21. Trinidad Chambliss, Mississippi
Last week: 15 (⇓6)
Result: BYE
Season totals: 195-299, 2,657 yards, 14 TD, 3 INT; 110 carries, 444 yards, 6 TD
Chambliss has racked up the yardage totals, but the touchdowns have slipped in recent games. Chambliss is still a lock to reach 3,000 passing yards with the Egg Bowl and at least one playoff game still out there for him to play. Not bad for the Division II national champion from Ferris State.

20. Colton Joseph, Old Dominion
Last week: 20 ⇔
Result: 12-18, 140 yards, TD; 20 carries, 189 yards, TD
Season totals: 164-268, 2,518 yards, 21 TD, 9 INT; 139 carries, 899 yards, 12 TD
Joseph’s passing stats won’t blow you away, but 33 total touchdowns and 3,417 yards will. The nine interceptions have stunted his position on this list, but Joseph hasn’t turned the ball over in the last three games while accounting for eight touchdowns. He has earned this spot.

19. Nick Minicucci, Delaware
Last week: NR
Result: 21-30, 140 yards, TD
Season totals: 279-445, 3,203 yards, 19 TD, 7 INT; 96 carries, 184 yards, 9 TD
Minicucci has handled his first season in FBS rather well. His 3,203 passing yards are fifth in FBS. He has accounted for 28 total touchdowns. Minicucci was more runner than a passer for the Blue Hens last year. The Hens changed the offense with the affiliation and have turned it into a strong first season in FBS. Delaware needs a win over UTEP to hit six wins and force the NCAA to put them in a bowl game.
18. Marcel Reed, Texas A&M
Last week: 21 (⇑3)
Result: 10-15, 120 yards, 3 TD; 1 carry, 4 yards
Season totals: 189-306, 2,752 yards, 25 TD, 8 INT; 77 carries, 395 yards, 6 TD
Reed took it easy against Samford, but his three touchdowns helped to move him back up the list. It’s hard to deal with so many turnovers and touchdowns, but I’ve tried to find a good balance.

17. Brad Jackson, Texas State
Last week: NR
Result: 25-32, 201 yards, 2 TD, INT; 15 carries, 88 yards,2 TD
Season totals: 214-302, 2,769 yards, 16 TD, 7 INT; 147 carries, 579 yards, 13 TD
Jackson played very sparingly as a true freshman last year. The plan was always for him to take the keys from Jordan McCloud heading into this season. It was a good plan. Jackson has been hanging around this list for a while, but 10 touchdowns to just one interception with over 900 total yards lands him here over the last three games. It’s becoming harder to ignore his dual-threat ability. Imagine where Jackson would be in rushing without the negative yards from 23 sacks!
16. Arch Manning, Texas
Last week: NR
Result: 18-30, 389 yards, 4 TD; 2 carries, 5 yards, TD
Season totals: 213-341, 2,763 yards, 23 TD, 7 INT; 76 carries, 191 yards, 7 TD
America’s Golden Boy went from the best quarterback in the class to the biggest bust in history in the span of six weeks on the same freaking network! Through it all, Manning handled it with grace and humility. Now he’s coming out the other side looking like one of the better quarterbacks in the country. Manning has 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions over the last four games, with two more touchdowns on the ground. Texas isn’t running him as much as they did last year, instead letting him focus on becoming a better passer. It has worked, and it has allowed Arch to finally make his debut in the top 25 quarterbacks, thanks to 30 touchdowns accounted for.

15. Anthony Colandrea, UNLV
Last week: 25 (⇑10)
Result: 21-26, 253 yards, 3 TD; 3 carries, 16 yards
Season totals: 223-327, 2,780 yards, 21 TD, 6 INT; 104 carries, 529 yards, 7 TD
Colandrea had a big day against Hawaii to win the Ninth Island Trophy. The Virginia transfer blew by career highs in yards and touchdowns a couple of games ago. He’s taking much better care of the ball and has run about twice as much as he did at Virginia. He looks great in a Dan Mullen offense.

14. Alonza Barnett III, James Madison
Last week: 14 ⇔
Result: 9-18, 144 yards, TD, INT; 7 carries, 32 yards
Season totals: 168-276, 2,233 yards, 17 TD, 6 INT; 93 carries, 428 yards, 12 TD
Are teams starting to figure out Barnett? He has only three touchdowns over the last two games to go with two turnovers. The Dukes keep winning, and Barnett keeps playing well. The CFP once again shunned James Madison, but they should still get a good bowl invite. That’s little consolation for a 10-win team.
13. Noah Fifita, Arizona
Last week: 13 ⇔
Result: 14-25, 183 yards, TD, INT; 8 carries, 33 yards
Season totals: 219-341, 2,677 yards, 25 TD, 5 INT; 92 carries, 131 yards, 3 TD
Fifita led the Wildcats to their fourth straight win. Arizona sits at 8-3 and is starting down a big-name bowl game. Not bad for a team that finished 4-8 last season. Fifita has tied a career high in touchdowns and slashed his interception total from last year. He has also been far more effective on the ground when he does take off.
12. Jake Retzlaff, Tulane
Last week: 17 (⇑5)
Result: 17-28, 231 yards, 2 TD; 5 carries, 8 yards, TD
Season totals: 181-296, 2,426 yards, 14 TD, 4 INT; 99 carries, 565 yards, 12 TD
Retzlaff scored three touchdowns in the win over Temple in what some thought was a trap game. The Green Wave is still the highest-ranked Group of 5 team, and it’s almost all because of Retzlaff. He has only one turnover in the last three games to put Tulane in a position to make the CFP.

11. Bryson Barnes, Utah State
Last week: 11 ⇔
Result: 16-30, 150 yards, INT; 23 carries, 113 yards
Season totals: 189-304, 2,502 yards, 18 TD, 4 INT; 158 carries, 644 yards, 8 TD
Barnes had an okay game against Fresno, but he didn’t account for a touchdown. His rushing yards helped his yardage account for over 3,000 (3,146) on the season to keep his spot in the rankings.

9. Darian Mensah, Duke
Last week: 9 ⇔
Result: 20-33, 175 yards, TD; 3 carries, 27 yards
Season totals: 262-389, 3,182 yards, 26 TD, 4 INT; 47 carries, -41 yards
Mensah is sixth in passing yards and tied for fifth in passing touchdowns. He has had a couple of pedestrian games, but he hasn’t turned the ball over in the last two weeks. Mensah let the Duke run game carry the load against Carolina.
8. Gunner Stockton, Georgia
Last week: 5 (⇓3)
Result: 17-21, 196 yards, INT; 5 carries, 11 yards
Season totals: 220-308, 2,465 yards, 19 TD, 4 INT; 88 carries, 361 yards, 8 TD
There is a logjam of players at 27 total touchdowns this season. Not many of them have been as efficient as Stockton or taken care of the ball the way that he has. Georgia hasn’t leaned heavily on Stockton this season, but he has shown that they can if they need to. That’s good to know heading into the College Football Playoff.
7. Julian Sayin, Ohio State
Last week: 12 (⇑5)
Result: 13-19, 157 yards, 2 TD
Season totals: 239-301, 2,832 yards, 27 TD, 4 INT; 27 carries, 20 yards
Sayin’s completion percentage has taken a bit of a hit with Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith sidelined. He still managed to complete 68.4% of his passes in what amounted to a warm-up game for Michigan. Ohio State should be at full strength for that one this weekend.
6. Haynes King, Georgia Tech
Last week: 6 ⇔
Result: 27-41, 257 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT; 20 carries, 76 yards, TD
Season totals: 211-294, 2,516 yards, 12 TD, 4 INT; 168 carries, 883 yards, 15 TD
King doubled his interception total last week but still didn’t sink thanks to three more touchdowns. Others around him had pedestrian weeks. King has accounted for 3,399 yards of offense with 27 touchdowns. There is not a large gap at the top of these rankings.

6. Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati
Last week: 2 (⇓4)
Result: 25-38, 300 yards, 2 TD, INT; 8 carries, 38 yards
Season totals: 184-303, 2,518 yards, 24 TD, 5 INT; 90 carries, 521 yards, 9 TD
Sorsby has only six touchdowns in the last three games, which has moved him down the list with some huge performances strung together by other players. His 33 total touchdowns are still fifth in FBS, but the four interceptions in the last three games — all Cincinnati losses — hurt his cause.

5. Drew Mestemaker, North Texas
Last week: 10 (⇑5)
Result: 19-23, 469 yards, 3 TD; 2 carries, 1 yard, TD
Season totals: 251-358, 3,469 yards, 26 TD, 4 INT; 44 carries, 57 yards, 5 TD
Mestemaker now leads FBS in passing yards and has still only thrown four interceptions. He hasn’t thrown one in the last three games as North Texas attempts to make the College Football Playoff. Oklahoma State fans are dancing in the streets of Stillwater since North Texas coach Eric Morris was hired as the next coach of Oklahoma State, leading many to believe that Mestemaker is going to follow his coach to the Big 12.
4. Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
Last week: 1 (⇓3)
Result: BYE
Season totals: 203-278, 2,641 yards, 30 TD, 5 INT; 62 carries, 216 yards, 5 TD
Mendoza is tied for the FBS lead with 30 passing touchdowns. The guy that he is tied with (Sawyer Robertson) has thrown 11 interceptions. Mendoza’s 35 total touchdowns are second in FBS. He doesn’t have the high yardage totals of some of those around him, but Mendoza has played sparingly in five blowouts this year. He has spent less time on the field than those in front of him.

3. Joe Fagnano, Connecticut
Last week: 3 ⇔
Result: 33-46, 446 yards, 3 TD
Season totals: 284-412, 3,441 yards, 28 TD, INT; 47 carries, 131 yards, 3 TD
Fagnano set a career high with 446 passing yards last week, breaking his 445-yard mark against Liberty in 2019. He is third in FBS in passing yards, and still only has one interception on the season. Fagnano is closing out his illustrious career in style.
2. Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
Last week: 8 (⇑6)
Result: 33-39, 484 yards, 5 TD, INT; 15 carries, 48 yards, TD
Season totals: 224-312, 2924 yards, 26 TD, 6 INT; 132 carries, 661 yards, 8 TD
Pavia is second in FBS with 3,585 total yards. His 34 total touchdowns are third in FBS. Pavia set a career high in passing yards for the third consecutive week, obliterating his old record by 107 yards. Pavia has racked up 1,021 total yards with 10 touchdowns to just one interception in the last two games alone!
1. Byrum Brown, South Florida
Last week: 4 (⇑3)
Result: 19-25, 353 yards, 3 TD; 14 carries, 63 yards, 2 TD
Season totals: 210-317, 2883 yards, 24 TD, 7 INT; 160 carries, 904 yards, 13 TD
Brown leads FBS with 3,787 yards accounted for and 37 total touchdowns. Brown has flown up this list in recent weeks. He has 680 passing yards in the last two games and has run for at least 60 yards, topping 100 yards five times, in each of the last seven games. Brown has also scored at least one rushing touchdown in each of those games. He has also cut down on the turnovers, with just two interceptions in the last five games.
