Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 8: Top Free Agent Adds Include Parris Campbell, Tyler Boyd, Wan'Dale Robinson, Mecole Hardman

Noah Brown - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Justin Carter's fantasy football wide receiver waiver wire pickups for Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season. His free agent WRs to add, stream and stash off waivers.

If you're going to make a playoff push in fantasy, it's time to make that push now. And lucky for you, we have a few really enticing wide receivers on the wire right now who can help you get there. Below, you'll find some wide receivers that you should be targeting on the fantasy football waiver wire ahead of Week 8.

Not all of these waiver wire options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster.

Be sure to also check out our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 8 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list here are around 50% rostered or below.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Wide Receivers Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts - 4% rostered

Last week, Parris Campbell was really good, and I was hesitant to recommend him as more than a deep league add because we had a long track record of Campbell not performing.

Well, one week later, and I'm ready to go all in on Campbell. He was targeted 12 times, making it back-to-back weeks with double-digit targets. He caught 10 of those for 70 yards and found the end zone for the second week in a row.

The Colts are getting the ball to Campbell quickly right now. In full PPR, his volume alone would make him a strong fantasy option, but the fact that both games where he's had an extended role have featured Campbell touchdowns adds even more to his value.

Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals - 65% rostered

We're at the point where Tyler Boyd's fantasy value gets a boost: bye weeks. I love having a guy like Boyd to help me get through byes because he has a consistent role on a good offense.

And that's not to mention that he had an explosive game this week, catching eight passes for 155 yards and a score. I have no illusions when it comes to Boyd about this week being a sign of things to come because he's never going to have this kind of game every week. But he's good for a few per season, and he has a high floor. The WR should be rostered in more leagues.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kansas City Chiefs - 36% rostered

MVS finally had his breakout game, catching three passes for 111 yards. His yardage totals for the last three weeks are 90, zero, and 111. If that zero in the middle is just a blip, then I think we're looking at the beginning of a big run for Valdes-Scantling, as quarterback Patrick Mahomes is starting to figure out the way NFL defenses have been playing against the deep ball this season.

Valdes-Scantling would be a spot or two higher on this list if the Chiefs didn't have a bye next week.

Mecole Hardman, Kansas City Chiefs - 24% rostered

The Chiefs have a bye next week, so Hardman can't help you immediately, but we can't ignore a player who scored three touchdowns this week, even if two of them came on run plays, something that's pretty fluky. Hardman's found the end zone four times over the last two games, despite having just eight targets and two carries over that span.

Scoring touchdowns on 40% of your opportunities is a really high number, and there's no chance that continues. But with what Hardman showed on Sunday, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him playing a larger role after the bye, which would raise his floor while keeping his ceiling as high as it is.

Wan'Dale Robinson, New York Giants - 18% rostered

After missing four weeks in a row, the rookie returned last week against Jacksonville and quickly got on all fantasy radar, as he caught three passes for 37 yards and a score. He was only targeted four times, but you could get the sense that he was quickly gaining the team's trust.

And, well, he did. This week, his targets doubled, and he brought in six passes for 50 yards. The Giants have been a mess at wide receiver all season, but Robinson has brought them a little bit of reliability. I would imagine that his role will continue to grow, to the point where I'm confident saying he'll be the team's No. 1 receiver after their Week 9 bye.

Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland Browns - 20% rostered

Peoples-Jones has been a constant presence in the bottom half of this column all season. His numbers have been solid this season—he wasn't going to win you a fantasy matchup, but in a 14-team league, there's value in someone who won't lose you the matchup.

But I'm starting to like Peoples-Jones in shallower leagues at this point.

He was targeted six times this week, catching all six for 71 yards. Peoples-Jones is now at four games in a row with at least 50 yards. His Week 2 and Week 3 games were big warning signs to me for a little bit, but his usage over the last month makes it impossible to ignore him, especially with tight end David Njoku suffering some kind of ankle injury against the Ravens.

Wide Receiver Deeper League Waiver Wire Pickups

Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars - 18% rostered

Jones tied Christian Kirk for the team lead in targets this week, with both getting 10 looks. Jones only brought in four of his for 54 yards whereas Kirk had seven receptions for 96 yards, but that's why Kirk is almost universally rostered while Jones is 18% rostered.

Still, Jones is a good floor play in deep leagues. He's had eight or more targets four times already and in three of those games, he went over 50 yards. Jones isn't an exciting addition, but he can help if you need some reliability in your lineup.

Noah Brown, Dallas Cowboys - 7% rostered

I was really interested to see how things shook out in Dallas this week since Dak Prescott was back under center. Where would the targets go?

To Noah Brown, apparently, as his seven targets led the Cowboys. CeeDee Lamb is the No. 1 receiver in Dallas still, but Brown took a step ahead of Michael Gallup on Sunday. Brown caught five of his seven targets for 50 yards, while Gallup caught zero of his two targets.

I'm still worried about Brown because his Week 6 and 7 numbers were a combined two catches for 15 yards, but it's hard to compare the Cooper Rush offense to the Dak Prescott offense. Brown has a role in the Dak version of this Cowboys team and has upside in deep leagues.

DeAndre Carter, Los Angeles Chargers - 5% rostered

If the Chargers didn't have a bye next week, Carter would be higher on this list, as Mike Williams left Sunday's game with an ankle injury. Because there's a bye week up next, we don't really know if Williams will be back on the field the next time the Chargers play.

But anyway, I'm supposed to be talking about DeAndre Carter. He was targeted seven times on Sunday, catching three of those for 37 yards. Again, not really any value if Williams is back, but some deep league flex appeal if Williams is out again.

Kalif Raymond, Detroit Lions - 0% rostered

So, this move only really works if Amon-Ra St. Brown's concussion keeps him out next week. With Brown out, Raymond led the Lions with 75 receiving yards, catching five of his six targets.

This is now three games in a row with at least five targets for Raymond. A healthy St. Brown creates too much uncertainty about Raymond's role, but if the Lions' wide receiver depth chart looks as bleak next week as it did this week, he's playable in a 14 or 16-team league.
