Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 8:

Tez Johnson, WR, Buccaneers
Trade Value: 15.7
ROS Rank: 125

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Tez Johnson has scored in back-to-back games and is in line for increased opportunities with Mike Evans (collarbone) expected to miss most of the season. The seventh-round rookie out of Oregon has logged a full route share in each of the past two weeks, running a season-high 84% in Week 6 and 74.1% in Week 7 against the Lions. Johnson caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in the matchup, tying tight end Cade Otton for the second-most targets on the team.

With Mike Evans sidelined and Chris Godwin's status uncertain as he recovers from a fibula injury, Johnson should continue to see a full-time role in the Buccaneers' offense.

Verdict: Buy or sell as a throw-in for a bigger trade

Kayshon Boutte, WR, Patriots
Trade Value: 15.3
ROS Rank: 128

Against the Titans on Sunday, New England Patriots third-year wide receiver Kayshon Boutte turned in his second consecutive strong fantasy performance on the back of three touchdowns in the last two games. He has put up a respectable 148 receiving yards over that span, but has done it on only seven targets. Since leading the team in targets in the season opener, he has yet to see more than five looks in any other game, averaging under three targets per game in his last six games.

Josh McDaniels' offense has long been difficult to predict for fantasy football, but fortunately for Boutte, by every metric, Drake Maye has been one of the best deep ball throwers in the league, adding value to each of those targets. With six teams on a Week 8 bye, Boutte becomes a high-priority waiver add wherever he's still available, and in many cases, can be plugged right into the starting lineup.

Verdict: Avoid in trades, too much volatility

Kyle Monongai, RB, Bears
Trade Value: 16.1
ROS Rank: 124

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai had his best game as a pro in Week 7 against New Orleans, handling 13 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown, and added two receptions (three targets) for 13 yards. The Bears have leaned into their run game more in their two games post games after their Week 5 bye, totaling 367 yards on 67 carries.

And Monangai played his highest snap share of the season at 46.3% on Sunday against the Saints, but it's worth noting that starter D'Andre Swift was dealing with a groin injury coming into the game. The seventh-round rookie is still a solid add as a strong handcuff option to Swift in an improving offense.

Verdict: Buy as a potential second-half riser if you need an RB

Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Browns
Trade Value: 14.3
ROS Rank: 134

Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. caught four of his five targets for 36 yards in a 31-6 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. While he turned in a quiet outing, Fannin still wound up leading the Browns in receiving in a game where they passed for just 116 yards on a windy, rainy day in Cleveland.

Fannin has been impressive in his rookie season, catching 32 passes for 290 yards and one touchdown through seven games. With David Njoku (knee) looking iffy for a Week 8 road matchup against the New England Patriots, Fannin could be queued up for a big fantasy day. Treat him as a low-end TE1 this Sunday.

Verdict: Consider buying in PPR, avoid in other formats

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 8 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Tez Johnson, Cade Otton, Kayshon Boutte, Romeo Doubs, Kyle Monangai, Harold Fannin Jr., Joe Flacco. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
