Ethan Johnson Signs With South Carolina
South Carolina has added former Appalachian State cornerback Ethan Johnson, who signed with the Gamecocks after receiving temporary eligibility relief from a Louisiana court, according to Pete Nakos of On3. Johnson started all 13 games for App State in 2025 and finished with 44 tackles, 13 pass breakups, one interception and 1.5 tackles for loss. He made 39 starts across four seasons with the Mountaineers. Johnson is one of 16 football players covered by the Louisiana temporary restraining order, which currently allows him to play a fifth season. The ruling is temporary, not a final eligibility decision. For CFF formats using team defenses, this is mainly a depth addition to South Carolina's secondary ahead of the Sept. 5 opener against Kent State.
