Alabama has finally ascended to No. 1 in the rankings. Ok, the quarterback rankings. But this is still a big deal after its quarterback room was lampooned all offseason.
Ty Simpson helped Alabama get over the bad taste of losing to Vanderbilt in 2024. In doing so, the Tide rejoined the top 10 in the AP poll at No. 8.
Now, it is time to find out where the rest of the signal-callers have finished. There were a lot of byes in Week 6, and this accounted for a lot of the shifting in these ranks.

Top 10 College Football Quarterbacks for Week 7
Ty Simpson, Alabama
Since the Week 1 loss to Florida State, Alabama and Ty Simpson have been rolling through opponents.
After starting the season ranked No. 10 by AP, Alabama is now ranked No. 8 after wins over both Georgia in Athens and Vanderbilt in the past two games. In these games, Simpson has combined for 47-of-69 for 616 yards, four touchdowns, and just one pick.
Simpson has performed his best in the biggest games of the season. If he can do so again against the 12th-ranked Missouri Tigers on Saturday, he will solidify a spot at the top of the rankings moving forward.

Dante Moore, Oregon
Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
We are going to put these two quarterbacks together as they will separate themselves this week. In the biggest game of the weekend, Indiana and Oregon, both coming off a bye, will face each other in Eugene.
Whichever quarterbacks can find a way to win could take over the No. 1 spot here. More importantly for them, it puts their team in the driver's seat for a trip to Indianapolis and a Big Ten title showdown.
Many mock drafts have Moore and Mendoza as the current QB1 and QB2 for the 2026 NFL Draft. Scouts will be watching this game carefully to see who can put the pressure behind them and perform. We have seen the ability of Moore to do so at Penn State. This will be a huge chance for Mendoza to prove the same.
Carson Beck, Miami
In another season, Beck could be higher on this list. But in 2025, there are better quarterbacks. Even after accounting for four touchdowns in the Miami Hurricanes’ win over Florida State in Week 6, Beck still has a lot to prove at Miami. He will need to keep his teammates and coach on track as they attempt to avoid another late-season collapse.
Getting the Hurricanes to the playoffs seems like a certainty for now. If Beck can get them even further once they get there, it could be a magical season for Miami and a return to national championship aspirations for years to come.
Sawyer Robertson, Baylor
With even better stats than TCU's Josh Hoover, Robertson, who has 2,058 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions, is the best quarterback in the Big 12. He has led the Baylor Bears to a respectable season and may be saving the coaching job of Dave Aranda.
With 345 yards and two touchdowns on 25-of-39 passing against Kansas State in Week 6, he was able to allow the Bears to pull off a 35-34 win and keep Baylor in the conference title game mix. If Baylor does eventually make it to Dallas and Jerry World, it will be on the arm of Robertson.
Luke Altmyer, Illinois
After failing badly against Indiana, Altmyer and the Illini have been balling out the past two weeks against USC and Purdue.

This week brings the toughest test of the season for Illinois as Ohio State comes to town. It brings in a defense that could be better than last season and an offense led by Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, two of the top-5 wide receivers in the country in 2025.
If Altmyer can score on this defense and keep up with the explosive Buckeyes offense, he deserves to be higher on this list. And he will come next week.
Josh Hoover, TCU
Up, down, up, down. This is another up week for Hoover as TCU comes in after beating Colorado and Coach Prime, 35-21, in Week 6.
1,517 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season for Hoover have made the Horned Frogs a contender to take on Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game. Against Colorado, Hoover boosted his status and ranking with 275 yards and four touchdowns on 23-of-33 passes. With Kansas State finally playing better, he will need to perform to the same level this week to achieve another TCU win.

Beau Pribula, Missouri
Missouri plays nobody in the non-conference schedule. While it played Kansas this year, the Jayhawks, although decent, are not the Big 12 contenders we thought they could be.
This week, the Tigers finally get a test when Alabama and newly minted No. 1 QB Ty Simpson come to town. Although not a Saban-led defense of past years, the Crimson Tide defense has shut down both Georgia and Vanderbilt in the second half of both of the past two weeks.
If it can do the same against Pribula and Missouri, it will be a difficult day in Columbia. If Pribula can show the arm he has thus far and use his legs to help his running backs get better looks, Missouri has a good chance to pull off the victory. In the first massive game for Pribula, we will find out if the spotlight is too hot, or exactly right.
Bryce Underwood, Michigan
The freshman is back again. Although it was not a statistical monster, the game Underwood played Saturday was his best of the season. Wisconsin did not put up much of a defense, and it seems like the Badgers have all but quit on Luke Fickell at this point.
Mostly a game manager as a first-year starter, Underwood was 19-of-28 for 270 yards and one touchdown against Wisconsin. With just three touchdowns and one pick for the season, Underwood has been limited as Michigan continues to use the run game to move the ball.
Against USC, it will be forced to throw more. And Underwood needs to deliver against a banged-up Trojans secondary. This game will go a long way in finding out which of these teams is the fourth-best team in the Big Ten. Especially with Penn State all but blowing its playoff chances against UCLA.
Malik Washington, Maryland
Washington could not finish the upset win over the Washington Huskies on Saturday, losing 24-20 at home. With this, Washington also had a subpar game in completing 30-of-49 passes for just 219 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Had he played better, the Terrapins may have been ranked this week after several games in which ranked teams lost. Instead, Maryland and Washington will need to get ready to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. Nebraska has found an offense, and Maryland will need to score to have a chance to win.
Haynes King, Georgia Tech
Although King and the Yellow Jackets did not play, the play of King in recent weeks led to his removal from the top 10. With a game this week against Virginia Tech, he will have a good chance to show out and get back into the ranks.
