Fantasy Football Injury Reports For NFL WRs: Week 3 Updates for Brian Thomas, Jaylen Waddle, Xavier Worthy, Jauan Jennings, Jayden Reed

Brian Thomas Jr - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

WR fantasy football injury updates and reports for wide receivers in Week 3 (2025), as of September 17, including Brian Thomas Jr., Jaylen Waddle, Xavier Worthy, Jauan Jennings, Jayden Reed, more.

Injuries are a part of life in the NFL. As many players say, the injury rate in the NFL is 100 percent, because it's simply not possible to play this game without picking up aliments of some kind.

And with the WR position being so crucial to fantasy football managers in all types of leagues, it's important to stay updated on which wideouts are dealing with health issues so you can make the appropriate moves when game day comes.

This week is actually relatively light on injuries for wideouts, which is a miracle in itself. Last year's rash of WR injuries was absolutely brutal. Either way, we'll break all the big ones down for you below, so let's dive in!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Brian Thomas Jr. Injury Update

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (wrist) played through a wrist injury in Week 2 that, for some reason, wasn't disclosed before the game. As a result, he underperformed, catching just four of his 12 targets for 49 yards and no touchdowns.

Thomas' injury being a surprise likely irked many fantasy managers and bettors. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen explained that it was a "nagging" issue when questioned about the aliment in an interview. There are several possibilities here -- it could be that they were intentionally hiding the injury or that it had worsened recently.

Coen didn't seem overly concerned, and it doesn't seem like Thomas will miss Week 3, but it's worth considering that it will continue to hamper his ability to produce. Receivers with such injuries might be more inclined to avoid collisions so as to not re-aggravate their injuries or make them worse.

It's hard to draw a conclusion one way or the other now, so be sure to check back in and see if "BTJr" is cleared to play or ruled out in the coming days.

Jaylen Waddle Injury Update

Waddle (shoulder) continues to play through a shoulder injury that's been present since at least Week 1, if not before. He had a solid game in Week 2 at least, catching five of his six targets for 68 yards and a touchdown. Still, it's a concern, at the least.

Waddle was apparently a full participant in his team's practice on Monday, but was subsequently downgraded to limited the next day. It could be that he re-aggravated the issue, or it could be part of a planned load management program for Waddle.

As with so many other injuries, this one will need to be monitored. The Dolphins are set to face the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, so Waddle will have less time to recover than usual.

Xavier Worthy Injury Update

Kansas City Chiefs wideout Xavier Worthy (shoulder) suffered a significant shoulder injury in Week 1, when his team's tight end, Travis Kelce, collided with him on a broken offensive play. Worthy was pulled from the game, and also wasn't able to play in Week 2.

He's dealing with a torn labrum, but elected not to have surgery, and instead is on track to play in Week 3. He'll have a harness to possibly limit his shoulder's range of motion and try to stop a re-injury. It's an injury that seems likely to affect his performance negatively moving forward, though.

The Chiefs offense struggled mightily without him in the lineup, so it makes sense that he's being brought back so quickly. Kansas City needs all the help they can get to make it to the playoffs after starting 0-2.

Jauan Jennings Injury Update

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jennings (ankle) played through a shoulder injury in Week 2, but he suffered an additional aliment in that contest. He has some kind of ankle issue now that he's working through. We don't have many more details than that, other than he's reportedly "day-to-day".

Jennings will be re-evaluated as his next game gets closer. The 49ers will play the Arizona Cardinals, a divisional rival, in Week 3. It doesn't seem as if Jennings is in danger of missing the game yet, but things can always change. Be sure to stay updated on this one.

Jayden Reed Injury Update

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot/clavicle) had successful surgeries done to repair the Jones fracture in one of his feet and his broken clavicle (also known as a collarbone) and will now spend likely at least the next six weeks recovering from his injuries.

His timeline to return is reportedly around six to eight weeks. This would have him return sometime in early to late November. There isn't much to do yet except to wait until that month draws closer, as the surgeries he underwent were major operations. But they went well, and there shouldn't be any complications.

Chris Godwin Injury Update

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) missed yet another week of playing, but at least he's back at practice. Still, if you have Godwin on any of your fantasy rosters, you probably shouldn't get your hopes up about him returning for Week 3. Godwin was originally projected to miss at least four games, and it's possible he's not back until Week 6.

He has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but we should at least see him practice with capped reps and doing plenty of work with the trainers to the side to help him.
