It's now Week 10 of the 2026 MLB season. We're always looking for ways to improve our fantasy baseball teams, no matter the time of year. One way to do so is to lock in on the waiver wire, prioritizing top-hitting prospects to stash. These are hitters who can make an immediate impact. Just look at Travis Bazzana on the Guardians.

Last week, we highlighted Kaelen Culpepper, Edwin Arroyo, Joshua Baez, Max Clark, and Braden Montgomery. We try to switch it up each week in this column to keep things fresh, so we're going with five different hitters this time around.

With that in mind, let's dive into why Luis Lara, Ralphy Velazquez, Jett Williams, Charlie Condon, and Jimmy Crooks are my five stashes to highlight this week.

Luis Lara, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

Lara is currently slashing .340/.447/.500 with seven home runs and 18 stolen bases in 227 plate appearances at Triple-A. The 21-year-old outfielder is showing phenomenal plate discipline, as highlighted by a 15.4% walk rate and a 12.8% strikeout rate. This has been a common theme throughout Lara's time in the minors, as he's always kept his strikeout rate below 20%.

There's a ton of speed in this profile, as Lara swiped 44 bags at Double-A last year and 45 at Single-A in 2024. The biggest change this season has been the uptick in power. Last season, Lara had only two homers in 612 plate appearances at Double-A. He's more than tripled that output in almost 400 fewer plate appearances this season. His ISO has gone from .086 to .160.

That's massive for Lara's fantasy upside, as he's gone from a speed demon with zero power to a hitter who can slug 15-20 home runs while swiping 40+ bags. If Lara continues to hit like this, there's a chance that he can force the Brewers' hand. Right now, Sal Frelick has been the right fielder against righties. He's struggled mightily, putting up a 69 wRC+ in 192 plate appearances. If Lara keeps hitting and Frelick continues to struggle, we could see Milwaukee make the swap.

With that in mind, it's a good idea to keep a close eye on Lara in the minors right now.

Ralphy Velazquez, 1B, Cleveland Guardians

Velazquez is currently slashing .317/.412/.551 with seven home runs in 194 plate appearances across all minor league levels. This includes strong plate discipline metrics, with a 12.9% walk rate and an 18.0% strikeout rate.

This is a 21-year-old hitter who was recently promoted to Triple-A. While he hasn't homered there yet, he's still slashing .318/.400/.455 with a 12.0% walk rate and a 16.0% strikeout rate, so he hasn't been overmatched.

We saw Velasquez register a 188 wRC+ in 126 plate appearances at Double-A last season. That included an impressive 15.1% strikeout rate. Having that kind of power while keeping your strikeout rate in check highlights his upside at the plate.

The Guardians have gotten strong contributions from young players like Bazzana, Angel Martinez, and Chase DeLauter this season. Perhaps that could influence them to give another young slugger a chance.

At first base, Cleveland is currently going with Kyle Manzardo, who has an underwhelming 92 wRC+. If Manzardo continues to struggle, they could give Velazquez a shot, with Rhys Hoskins coming in to face lefties.

Jett Williams, SS, Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers got Williams in the Freddy Peralta trade with the Mets, so they clearly have high hopes for him. Williams is slashing .238/.359/.383 with five home runs and 12 stolen bases in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A. While those are underwhelming surface stats, Williams still has an impressive 14.3% walk rate while limiting his strikeout rate to 21.6%.

This is a 22-year-old shortstop who hit 17 homers and stole 34 bases across all minor-league levels, so it's a strong fantasy profile. The Brewers continue to go with Joey Ortiz at shortstop. While he's a good defender, the bat has been absolutely abysmal, as highlighted by a 58 wRC+.

If Ortiz continues to struggle at the plate, the Brewers could give Williams a chance. At that point, Williams has the ability to take the job and run with it. If you're looking for some power and speed from a middle infielder, Williams makes a lot of sense.

The only issue is that the Brewers are rolling right now, so we may need to be a bit patient with them as we wait for Williams to get called up.

Charlie Condon, 1B, Colorado Rockies

Condon is the former third overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He's currently slashing .251/.384/.427 with six home runs and four stolen bases in 211 plate appearances in his age-23 season at Triple-A. While these numbers don't pop off the page, you have to like the 15.2% walk rate with a reasonable 25.1% strikeout rate.

The Rockies are a rebuilding team that has fallen on hard times lately. They're ice cold right now, so they may want to start to see what they have with their best prospects. TJ Rumfield is playing first base for the Rockies right now, but he's a completely unproven hitter who is starting to slow down, going 0-for-8 in his last three games.

There's also the chance that Rumfield can just move to DH while Condon takes over at first base. It may take until the All-Star break, but when it happens, Condon has power upside that you'll want to target, especially since he gets to hit at Coors Field.

Keep a close eye on Condon in the minors because if he heats up, we could see him force the Rockies' hand.

Jimmy Crooks, C, St. Louis Cardinals

Update - Prior to Friday's game, the Cardinals promoted Crooks to the MLB roster. Given that he is slated to see ample at-bats, managers in two-catcher leagues should consider picking up the young backstop.

If you're in two-catcher leagues, you're going to want to pay close attention to Crooks, since he's slashing .262/.412/.567 with 13 home runs in 177 plate appearances. While strikeouts are an issue (29.4%), at least he walks at a high rate (16.9%). Getting a young hitter who is putting up a 151 wRC+in Triple-A is a nice target for your second catcher.

The Cardinals have been one of the most surprising teams in MLB, but this is still a rebuilding organization, so they're going to want to see what they have with young players like Crooks.

It also helps that Pedro Pages is struggling, slashing .219/.262/.360 with a 76 wRC+ in 125 plate appearances. He's been worth only 0.7 WAR so far. If the Cardinals need a boost at the plate, they'd be wise to call up Crooks.

At 24 years old, there's not much left for Crooks to prove in the minors. It's only a matter of time before he's up in the big leagues. So if you're in two-catcher formats, keep a close eye on his performance.
