SEATTLE MARINERS - MLB TEAM LOGO

No. 20: Seattle Mariners

Record Since 2005: 1,519- 1,619
Best Season: 2022 (90-72) AL Wild Card

The Mariners were in the midst of a long rebuild during the 2010s but have begun to emerge out of their long losing stretch. During the 2021 and 2022 campaigns, the Mariners won 90 games. However, they returned to the postseason in 2022 for the first time since 2001. They defeated the Blue Jays in the Wild Card round but were swept by the Astros in the Divisional Series.

DETROIT TIGERS - MLB TEAM LOGO

No. 19: Detroit Tigers

Record Since 2005: 1,526- 1,608
Best Season: 2006 (95-67) AL Central Champions

The Tigers enjoyed two 95-win campaigns during this two-decade stretch. However, their 2006 season is their representative on their list due to their postseason play. In the 2006 season, the Tigers reached the World Series but fell to the St. Louis Cardinals. In comparison to their 95-win season in 2011, their 2006 team scored 35 more runs and hit 34 more home runs.

The Athletics had two 97-win seasons during this stretch. In 2019, the Athletics clinched the AL Wild Card for the second-straight season but fell short in this game to the Tampa Bay Rays. During the regular season, they scored 845 runs (30 more than their 2018 97-win season). In addition, the Athletics launched 30 more HRs during the 2019 campaign as well.

The Rangers have won one World Series during this stretch (2023) and captured three AL Pennants (2010, 2011, 2023). They enjoyed their best campaign during the 2011 season, the Rangers held their best record during this 20-year span. They launched the seventh-most HRs and fourth-most runs compared to their other 19 seasons.

During the regular season, they won the NL Central and were a complete team, scoring the fifth-most runs and fourth-highest OPS during this two-decade stretch.

The 2021 Giants took many by surprise during the regular season. They narrowly won the NL West over the Dodgers (by one game). They tallied the second-most HRs in the sport and held the second-lowest ERA. However, in the postseason, they fell to the Dodgers in the Divisional Series. Earlier during this period, the Giants won three World Series Championships (2010, 2012, 2014).

The Toronto Blue Jays set their best record during the 2015 campaign. In this season, the Blue Jays captured the AL East in demanding fashion and punched their ticket in the postseason. In the playoffs, they defeated the Rangers in the Division Series but fell to the Kansas City Royals in the AL Championship Series. They also scored the most runs in this season compared to other campaigns in this two-decade stretch.

NEW YORK METS - MLB TEAM LOGO

No. 12: New York Mets

Record Since 2005: 1,588- 1,550
Best Season: 2022 (101-61) NL Wild Card

The Mets posted their only 100-win campaign during this two-decade stretch during the 2022 campaign. However, their 101 wins were not enough to capture the NL East as the Braves won the division on a tie breaker. During this playoff run, they won just one game against the San Diego Padres. The Mets made the World Series during the 2015 season but fell to the Kansas City Royals.

HOUSTON ASTROS - MLB TEAM LOGO

After struggling through most of the early 2010s, the Astros flipped the script in the late 2010s and became a dynasty. The Astros captured two World Series Championships (2017, 2022) and enjoyed three 100-win campaigns. In 2019, the Astros won 107 games and scored an incredible 920 runs, 24 more than their second-highest number.

The Angels enjoyed most of their success during the 2000s but fell into a hard rebuild in the late 2010s. During the 2008 campaign, the Angels won 100 games (most during this span) and held a strong .743 OPS. During the postseason, they won 10 games, with five of the wins coming during the 2009 campaign.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES - MLB TEAM LOGO

The Phillies only had seven losing seasons during this stretch. They won one World Series during the 2008 campaign. However, in 2011, the Phillies posted their only 100-win campaign during this stretch. They captured the NL East title during this span. This was also their only season during this stretch where they held a winning percentage greater than .600.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS - MLB TEAM LOGO

The Brewers have sat near the top of the NL Central throughout most of this two-decade span. They had six 90-win campaigns during this span and won 95 or more games in three of them. During the 2018 season, the Brewers won 96 games (also accomplished this feat in 2011) but their postseason performance earned them the spot on this list. In October, this Milwaukee team won six games but fell to the Dodgers in the NLCS.

After placing near the bottom of the standings through most of the early 2000s, the Rays were able to enjoy a dominant stretch during the back-half of this two-decade stretch. Since 2018, the Rays have held a winning record in all but one. During the 2021 season, the Rays posted their first 100-win campaign but ultimately fell short in October. They made the World Series during the shortened 2020 campaign but lost to the Dodgers.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS - MLB TEAM LOGO

No. 6: Cleveland Guardians

Best Season: 2017 (102-60) AL East Champions

The Guardians have won at least 90 games in 10 of these 20 seasons. Despite making the postseason quite often, they were only able to win 26 total playoff games. In 2016 they made the World Series but fell short to the Chicago Cubs in seven games. During the 2017 season, the Guardians won 102 games (only 100-win season).

ATLANTA BRAVES - MLB TEAM LOGO

No. 5: Atlanta Braves

Best Season: 2023 (104-58) NL East Champions

The Braves have only won less than 70 games twice during this span. Atlanta won at least 90 games in nine of the campaigns. During the 2023 season, the Braves were led by MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. as they won an impressive 104 games. During this season they scored 947 runs, which is 92 more than their second-highest total (2019).

BOSTON RED SOX - MLB TEAM LOGO

No. 4: Boston Red Sox

Best Season: 2018 (108-54) AL East Champions

During this stretch, the Boston Red Sox won three World Series Championships. However, their best season was in 2018. During this season, the Red Sox won 108 games (their only 100-win season) and defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. They hit the fifth-most HRs and scored the fourth-most runs in 2018 in comparison to their other campaigns.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS - MLB TEAM LOGO

The Cardinals posted two 100-win campaigns during this stretch but their 2005 season was their most impressive. During this stretch, they won 52 playoff games and at least five in five separate seasons.

The Dodgers have been the most dominant team in the National League throughout most of their history. During this 20-year span, the Dodgers only had two losing seasons and posted six 100-win campaigns. However, despite their dominance in the regular season, they only won two World Series Championships. In 2022, they enjoyed their best regular season but fell short in the Divisional Series to the San Diego Padres.

NEW YORK YANKEES LOGO - MLB STOCK

Best Season: 2009 (103-59) AL East Champions

The Yankees are the only team on this list to not have a losing season during this span. Even though they won one World Series Championship during this span (2009), they have been the most dominant team in the regular season. They won at least 95 games in nine seasons and posted three 100-win campaigns. In 2019 and 2009, they won 103 games, but their World Series victory gave this season the edge on the list.
