FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (7/16/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Austyn Varney highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 7/16/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Welcome to Monday baseball on DraftKings. After a very eventful weekend, we have a full slate of 15 games on the board with plenty to dive into. Walker Buehler is really the only ace, so we'll have to dig deep for some value DraftKings has given us a shot at $20k for just $10 and a few healthy qualifiers to go along.

We also have a game in Coors Field, so you may want to keep some funds on board for those guys. If that's not enough, there are two other offenses outside of Coors with run expectations over six. Tonight will be a fun one and it will almost certainly come down to starting pitching. Let's dive in.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 7/16/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @VarneyDFS.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Walker Buehler - LAD @ PHI ($10,000)

The Dodgers are the biggest favorites on the slate at -200. They visit the Phillies in Citizens Bank Park, who hold the lowest implied total on the board at just 3.39. Walker Buehler has been absolutely dominant recently and is concreting what we saw last year. A sub .295 wOBA against both sides of the plate while striking out 11+ batters per nine innings is something we only see out of very select pitchers. Buehler has entered that tier and is affordably priced on FD. The Phillies are a dangerous lineup, but rank 13th overall against righties and strikeout a fair amount at 25%. With pitching pretty weak elsewhere, Buehler is an easy choice for SP1.

Jack Flaherty - STL vs. PIT ($7,700)

After Walker Buehler, pitching is very choppy on this slate. The Pirates are the only other team with an implied team total under 4 and it has a lot to do with the lineup just being overall weak. They started out the season strong, but sport just a .301 road wOBA since the 1st of May. Jack Flaherty is a solid young righty that is much better vs right-handed bats. Bell has a good match-up, but the rest of the offense is lackluster and can be taken advantage of. With pitching so weak on the slate, Flaherty is in play for cash games.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

C/1B - Joc Pederson - LAD @ PHI ($2,700)

There is no way Joc Pederson should be this cheap. The whole lineup is pretty cheap and a very solid stack against Vince Velasquez. Pederson has sported a .375 wOBA against righties since the start of the season and has hit all 20 of his homers against them. Velasquez on the other hand, has allowed a .357 wOBA to lefties since the start of 2017. Citizens Bank Park is a hitter-friendly ballpark and the Dodgers will look to take advantage for a second night in a row. Joc should lead off and is insanely cheap.

2B - Jose Altuve - HOU @ LAA ($4,100)

Altuve is one of the more expensive middle infielders of the slate, but he's hitting the seams off the ball and facing a lefty. Dating back to 2018, Altuve has sported a .375 wOBA vs lefties and has way more power than you may think. Andrew Heaney is a strikeout lefty that has issues with the long ball and command. The 'Stros are hit and miss, but Altuve is a bit more consistent and won't draw huge ownership.

3B - Rafael Devers - BOS vs. TOR ($4,200)

Jacob Waguespack, yes you read that correctly, will come into Fenway Park and face off with a lethal Red Sox lineup. They're hitting the ball extremely well right now and don't give you any break from 1-9. Rafael Devers has been on a tear as of late, accounting for 15 hits and four home runs over the last ten games. Over the course of that stretch, Devers has held on to a 58% hard contact rate.

SS - Trea Turner - WAS @ BAL ($3,800)

The Washington Nationals currently hold an 6.68 implied total. No, they're not in Coors Field. They're facing Asher Wojciechowski and the Orioles bullpen in Camden Yards. Trea Turner will lead things off for the Nats and is my favorite play on the team. He hits righties just as well as lefties (.371 wOBA) and has far more SB potential against them. Wojciechowski has been pitiful, as expected, allowing seven earned runs through just nine innings. Five at-bats is close to a guarantee for Turner and the upside is through the roof. He's a top play in all formats.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Christian Yelich - MIL vs. ATL ($4,900)

We haven't touched on the Brew Crew yet, but they're certainly in play at home vs Bryce Wilson and the Braves. Wilson has been terrible so far this season, and lefties have done the bulk of the damage. He doesn't profile as a huge prospect and struggled keeping the ball in the zone in the minors. We know Yelich is one of the best bats in baseball, and the .421 wOBA against righties more than supports it. He's a much better hitter at home in Miller Park (.477 wOBA) and his price will keep the masses off of him.

Alex Dickerson - SDP @ COL ($3,900)

Dickerson has been amazing since coming back from injury, sporting a .425 wOBA against righties and hitting four home runs in just over 20 at-bats. He's certainly hitting a bit over his head, but he now goes into Coors Field and is only $3,900 on FanDuel. He's facing off with Peter Lambert, who's a talented righty that as struggled at home. Against lefties, a .361 wOBA with a 44% hard contact rate. Dickerson will be in the clean-up hole and have limitless opportunities in the best park in baseball. Sign me up.
