Miles O'Neil Leading the North Carolina Quarterback Competition?
According to R.L. Bynum of the Tar Heel Tribune, North Carolina quarterback Miles O'Neil got the first reps of fall practice last week. Many have assumed Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr. was slated to start for UNC this season, but O'Neil appears to be making it a true competition. O'Neil spent the last two seasons at Texas A&M, tallying 171 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in limited action behind Marcel Reed. New offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino said he liked what he saw out of the quarterback position as a whole, so this quarterback battle could take the rest of fall camp to play out. The Tar Heels open the college football season with a Week 0 matchup against TCU, which will also have a new starting quarterback following the departure of Josh Hoover.
