Indiana Debuts at No. 6 in Initial College Football Coaches Poll
The Indiana Hoosiers are ranked as the No. 6 team in the nation in USA Today's preseason coaches poll following their 2025-26 College Football Playoff National Championship win. The program had a whopping eight players picked in the 2026 NFL Draft, headlined by No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza. Curt Cignetti has a lot to replace on both sides of the ball, but the team gets the benefit of the doubt after winning 27 of its last 29 games. TCU transfer Josh Hoover will start at quarterback this season as the Hoosiers look to qualify for a third straight College Football Playoff bid. Indiana will not play a team ranked inside the top 25 of the coaches poll until October 17, when the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes come to Bloomington.
