James Franklin to be Virginia Tech's Next Head Coach
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Virginia Tech is finalizing an agreement with James Franklin to be its next head coach. It has been reported that Franklin and the program have been in talks in recent days, but the deal is now imminent. In 12 years with Penn State, Franklin tallied a 104-45 record, including a Big Ten Championship, another Big Ten Championship Game appearance, six bowl-game wins, and a College Football Playoff Semifinal appearance. Before that, he led Vanderbilt to two straight nine-win seasons capped off with bowl wins. Although Franklin was let go this season after three straight losses against Oregon, UCLA, and Northwestern, he has delivered strong results for most of his head-coaching career. This sets up to be a fantastic hire for the Hokies, as Franklin will likely establish a high floor in Blacksburg.
