FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (11/8/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Nate Duffett's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 11/8/19. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

It could be a big offensive night on this Friday slate, as two of the three games are coming in at a total of 6.5. Vancouver visiting Winnipeg, and New Jersey visiting Edmonton are both at 6.5, while the third game with Boston visiting Detroit comes in at a total of 6. Despite having the only game total of 6, Boston has the highest expected goal total for any team on the slate, as Vegas expects the Bergeron line to dominate the lowly Red Wings tonight.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/8/19. The picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Roto_Nate.

DFS Forwards to Consider

Patrice Bergeron - C, BOS vs DET (FD - $7,800, DK - $7,700)

Coming off a tough loss to their rivals and on two days rest, I would expect the Bruins to make a statement against the Red Wings tonight, and Vegas is inclined to agree. While he isn't scoring at the same pace as his linemates, Bergeron has been lighting up the fantasy points department himself and has a much cheaper salary. If you can't find the value, you could just take Bergeron as a one-off to grab a piece of the line's scoring, but I would recommend locking in Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak to make it a stack and hope they have another big night against weak competition. Marchand is the cheapest option of this trio on DraftKings, making him an elite play on that site.

Brock Boeser - W, VAN vs WPG  (FD - $7,400, DK - $6,200)

Vegas is significantly overvaluing Winnipeg in this matchup, making them the favorite in a game that has a total of 6.5. Vancouver has one of the stingiest defenses in the league this season, allowing only 2.31 goals per game. Meanwhile, Winnipeg is in the bottom third of the league in goals-against average, and have the second-worst penalty kill. Boeser has been on fire as of late, recording nine points in the last nine games after struggling to start the season. I would expect a high-powered Vancouver powerplay to succeed against the Jets tonight, as Boeser and Elias Pettersson continue their hot streak.

Also, Consider:

  • Edmonton has the next highest expected team total but in a tale as old as time, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisatl have been the only guys scoring consistently over the last five games. You obviously can't roster this along with the Bruins stack, so it's a personal choice over which line you think will have the bigger night. I chose to feature the Bruins line due to them having more rest, Detroit allowing more goals per game, and having a weaker penalty kill, but New Jersey is also struggling in the defensive department so far this season so I will probably have pieces of both lines in multi-entry tournaments. I would suggest stacking this pair with Oscar Klefbom, as their even-strength linemate Sam Gagner will be on a different powerplay unit.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Josh Morrissey - D, WPG vs VAN (FD - $4,800, DK - $5,000)

While this is going against my argument that Vegas is overvaluing Winnipeg in this matchup, we can't ignore that Winnipeg does have the third-highest expected goals total on the slate, and we need to find some value if rostering the Edmonton or Boston stacks. Morrissey has been a consistent force on a Winnipeg blueline with tons of turnover so far this season and has four points in his last five games to show for it. He is playing 24+ minutes a night and also can rack up shots on goal and blocked shots.

Torey Krug  - D, BOS vs DET (FD - $5,600, DK - $5,800)

Krug has seen his salary decrease as of late but continues to put up points on the powerplay, with points in four straight and eight of his last ten games. We can't ignore that he goes back to his hometown tonight to put on a show in front of friends and family, and will have plenty of opportunities to do it against the worst penalty kill in the league. If you're looking for a cheaper stack, adding Krug in to replace a player on the Bruins' first line could build a different combination that will help you be a contrarian on the three-game slate.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Mike Smith - G, EDM vs NJ (FD - $8,100, DK - $8,100)

Mike Smith comes at a much cheaper price than Tuukka Rask on this slate, but you can't go wrong with either option. Smith has allowed two or fewer goals in six of his ten starts this season, and faces a New Jersey team that has struggled to score. I will take Smith due to the salary differential and wanting to fit in some of the more expensive stacks, but if you want something more certain, I would attempt to pay up for Rask, who should easily grab a victory tonight. My lean would be for Smith in GPP's, with Rask being my number one option in cash games. Smith hasn't been the confirmed starter yet, and I would be less likely to play Koskinen if he is the one to lead the Oilers to the ice tonight. On DraftKings, Rask comes at a much more reasonable price of $8,300, making him my play in all formats on that site.
