Ahmad Hardy to Miss Start of Season Due to Offseason Gunshot Wound
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy (leg) will be unable to begin the regular season due to the gunshot wound he suffered in the offseason. Per Thamel, Hardy has yet to return to the practice field and is targeting "mid-September" as a potential return date. This will significantly lower his fantasy value heading into the regular season. Hardy has emerged as one of the nation's top running backs over his first two collegiate seasons. He made his college debut in 2024 with Louisiana-Monroe, where he led the Sun Belt Conference with 1,351 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. In 2025, he took his talents to Missouri, where he led the SEC with an even higher 1,649 rushing yards and was even named All-American. During his absence, Jamal Roberts should take the bulk of the carries and will provide early fantasy value as he posted a stellar 6.1 YPA on 124 carries last fall.
