RotoBaller PGA: One And Done Staff Picks - Wyndham Championship

The PGA RotoBaller staff digs into their One and Done selections for the Wyndham Championship. Here are some under the radar plays and picks for this week's event.

Here at RotoBaller, we are always searching for ways to give our readers the best fantasy sports content possible. With that goal in mind, we are very proud to announce the addition of a weekly PGA “One and Done” column. In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar and Gianni Magliocco will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!

Brooks Koepka finally showed up for a non-major and looked downright dominant Sunday at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Koepka fired a stone-cold 65 in the final round at Memphis to turn the event into a snoozefest. Our OAD picks weren't as dominant as Brooks, though Spencer nabbed a really nice solo-third finish with his selection of Marc Leishman and Gianni's horse Patrick Reed turned in a rock-solid T12. My attempt at playing things conservatively backfired badly, as Matt Kuchar managed just a T43.

With a strong outing from Patrick Reed and a horrible one from Matt Kuchar, Gianni has once again grabbed the lead in our contest. We head to Greensboro this week for the final "regular season" event on the PGA Tour schedule. Let's see who the guys will be making their last stands with at the Wyndham!

2019 Wyndham Championship

Sedgefield Country Club

7,127 Yards - Par 70 - Greens Bermuda

This Donald Ross layout is really short by modern standards, but it won't be overpowered by these players, as most will elect to club down off the tee in order to find the right position in fairways. In true Ross fashion, Sedgefield's greens are small with multiple tiers and undulations. It's a 'fairways and greens' track where distance is of little importance. Instead, ball striking and a hot putter will be needed. Brandt Snedeker is the defending Wyndham champ and logged a first-round 59 en route to victory last year.

One and Done Selections

Joe Nicely - Viktor Hovland

Alternate -  Martin Kaymer

I feel as though I've played this contest without an ounce of fear over the last several months. My results over that time span have allowed me to overcome Gianni's huge lead and put myself right back in the mix. My selection of Matt Kuchar at last week's WGC event was the first true "conservative" pick I've made in months and it blew up in my face to the tune of a big fat T43 in Memphis, dropping me back into second place in this contest. With just a few events left, I will be going out swinging.

I'm a big believer in this crop of new young talent that has burst on to the PGA Tour scene recently. I've already used Collin Morikawa in this contest and I was heavily invested in Matt Wolff in DFS GPPs last week. This week, I'll be giving my man Viktor Hovland the keys to my OAD car in North Carolina. Everything about Sedgefield Country Club screams "Plodder", which Hovland certainly isn't, but the young gun has the requisite ball striking needed to play well on this Ross layout, as he ranks first in this field in Strokes Gained: Ball Striking and fourth in SG: Approach over his last 24 rounds. Hovland also has the ability to pile up birdies and heads to Greensboro having turned in 10 sub-70 scorecards in his last 12 rounds. The Oklahoma State product was tabbed as "The One" out of this class and he has to be hungry to join Wolff and Morikawa in the PGA Tour winner's club. I'll be rolling with V-Hova in Greensboro and expect him to supply some fireworks on this gettable track.

Yearly Earnings - $9,533,660

Yearly Cuts Made - 25/28

Spencer Aguiar - Paul Casey

Alternate - Adam Hadwin

I had planned on saving Paul Casey until the Tour Championship, but it seems likely that any advantage I would be receiving on the Englishman at East Lake would be derived from him winning one of these final events. His ranking in the FedExCup standings has dwindled weekly, and I feel comfortable using him in hopes of stealing a victory towards the end of the season.

Casey has been exceptional at this tournament in his past two showings, posting a third-place result in 2015 to go along with an 18th place finish in 2014, and the reason for his success here is quite simple. The 42-year-old is a premier ball striker that uses his all-around driving prowess to create scoring opportunities, and Sedgefield Country Club allows him to dominate because of his ability to find fairways. When we add in his short iron mastery, Casey becomes perhaps the man to beat this weekend in North Carolina. - Spencer Aguiar

Yearly Earnings - $6,141,449

Yearly Cuts Made - 26/28

Gianni Magliocco - Jordan Spieth

Alternate - Matthew Wolff

The time has come - we are playing Jordan Spieth!

While I would have preferred to keep the Texan for the playoffs, his position in the FedEx Cup standings is precarious, and he's by far the best player in this week's Wyndham Championship. Yeah, he's not in the form of his life, and if he flopped this week I wouldn't be stunned, but if he plays like he did last week in Memphis, he can win. Spieth made more birdies than any other player in the field last week, and only the big numbers stopped him from competing for the title. This week's host course is kind for those who spray the ball, and on Spieth's lone trip to this event, he finished runner-up.

Ladies and gentlemen, let the haters hate. We are playing Jordan Spieth. - Gianni Magliocco

Yearly Earnings - $9,598,428

Yearly Cuts Made - 24/28
