Mike Clevinger Has His Sights Set on a Starting Role in 2018
7 years agoCleveland Indians right-handed pitcher Mike Clevinger has his sights set on a role in the 2018 starting rotation. The Tribe have Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, and Trevor Bauer locked into the top three spots in the rotation, leaving Clevinger, Danny Salazar, and Josh Tomlin to battle for the final two spots. Clevinger was solid in 2017, posting a 12-6 record with a 3.11 ERA, but he has the least experience of the three candidates. He put up a strong 10.13 K/9, but it went with a concerning 4.44 BB/9. If he does well in Spring Training and wins a starting role, he could be a sneaky source of strikeouts and won't kill your ERA. Out of the bullpen however, he'd likely be in middle relief with very little fantasy value.
