Lucas Erceg 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Could Co-Close With Miller
9 months agoOakland A's reliever Lucas Ecreg's fastball velocity is in the 96th percentile at 98 MPH. Erceg was in the top 6% of the league in average exit velocity at 86 MPH. He had 68 strikeouts in 55 innings last season. His biggest issue is walks, at a 14.3% clip in 2023. The 36 walks in 2023 killed his WHIP, which ended at 1.58. A gain in command could allow him to take the next step into a high-leverage role in Oakland. Erceg had a 4.75 ERA last year, but an xERA of 3.69 shows he may have had some bad luck. General manager David Forst mentioned Miller and Trevor Gott as potential closers, but Erceg could work his way into the mix. ATC projects three wins, four saves, and 13 holds with a 4.16 ERA, 1.45 ERA, and 77 strikeouts. With any command gain, Erceg could outearn his 476 NFBC ADP price tag.
