Keenan Allen 2018 Outlook: Another Big WR1 Season On The Way
6 years agoHopefully you didn't jump off the Keenan Allen bandwagon prior to 2017. Allen has always had the potential but has always been labeled an injury risk. After playing a combined 28 games in his first two seasons, he missed back to back years with a lacerated kidney and a torn ACL. If you were burned by Allen in either of those short seasons, your hesitation was warranted, but keep in mind that neither of these injuries are issues that reoccur often. Fluke injuries shouldn't label someone as injury prone.
Allen didn't just have a great 2017 season, he had more fantasy points than any other wide receiver from Week 10 through Week 17 in PPR leagues. If you rode Allen to a fantasy championship in 2017, hopefully you have regained confidence in him. In those seven games, Allen hauled in 797 yards on 58 catches., including three games with double digit catches.
Many fantasy owners have had worries that the return of Mike Williams could cut into Allen's target share, but the Hunter Henry injury has helped to alleviate some of that. Between Henry and Antonio Gates, that is 114 vacated targets from last year that will need to be picked up and the Chargers did not make any big additions this off-season. We are looking at another high upside WR1 season from Allen in 2018.
