Tiered Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings (Part 2)

What's up RotoBallers. Welcome to part two of our 2016 fantasy football tiered wide receiver rankings for dynasty leagues. You can read the rest of our 2016 dynasty league rankings. Fantasy football covers multiple different types of leagues now. There are Standard Leagues, PPR Leagues, Half-PPR Leagues, Rookie Leagues, and arguably the most popular, Daily Fantasy Football. In this article, I, Justin Bales, will be taking you through my most recent Dynasty League Rankings.

Dynasty Leagues are one of the most difficult types of rankings to project. There are multiple aspects that need to be equally balanced while making the rankings. Each owner needs a mix of players that can produce this season along with players that have the potential to produce for years to come. These rankings take every aspect into consideration, as some younger players may be ranked higher than players that are ready to produce this season.

Tier 6 – Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings

  1. Julian Edelman
  2. Golden Tate
  3. Michael Thomas
  4. Marvin Jones
  5. Breshad Perriman
  6. Martavis Bryant
  7. John Brown
  8. Tyler Lockett

Edelman leads this tier, and he’s a player that will immediately produce good fantasy numbers. With that being said, he’s getting a bit old and the Patriots seem a bit concerns with him after signing Chris Hogan. If Edelman can stay healthy, he’ll make a good fantasy option for the time being.

The rest of the group is filled with high upside players. Tate and Jones with be fighting for receptions, but with Calvin Johnson out of Detroit, they should each see their fair share of targets. The acquisition of Anquan Boldin doesn’t hurt their dynasty value, as he will likely leave the team after this season.

Thomas, Brown, and Lockett are all young prospects that have roles in their offenses, but aren’t the go-to guys. Of the group, Thomas has the most upside because of his body type, but all three players could be great fantasy options for the next 10 seasons.

Perriman and Bryant are dealing with two different situations, but they are both players that are better in the future than right now. Perriman recently injured himself for the second time since being drafted, and he’s extremely risky because of his health concerns. Bryant hasn’t been injured, but he has been suspended the entire season because of failing marijuana tests. He seemed level headed when interviewed about the situation, which is encouraging for his career, but drugs are always a concern.

Tier 7 – Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings

  1. Eric Decker
  2. Stefon Diggs
  3. Willie Snead
  4. Emmanuel Sanders
  5. Larry Fitzgerald

This tier is all about the type of player you need on your roster. Decker, Fitzgerald, and Sanders are all a bit more proven. Decker and Sanders likely have a few good years left in them, but they aren’t elite holds in dynasty leagues, which is why they fell a bit. Fitzgerald could retire after this season, but he will help your team immediately.

Diggs and Snead are two players that came in with low expectations and looked fantastic last season. They are both dealing with first round receivers being drafted to their teams, which certainly hurt, but they also both come with a ton of upside. They are a couple of high risk, high reward dynasty options.

Tier 8 – Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings

  1. Tavon Austin
  2. Travis Benjamin
  3. Devin Funchess
  4. Michael Crabtree

This tier is headlined by a few boom or bust prospects. Tavon Austin isn’t a traditional wide receiver, but he’s a threat to score whenever the ball is in his hands, and it seems as if the Rams are quickly figuring that out. Travis Benjamin has elite upside, but his fantasy value could go up or down this season. He’ll be on a better offense, but he will give up targets to players like Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates. Funchess has a year under his belt, and he looked great when given the opportunity to start for the Panthers. He has a big body, but he’s more of a dynasty stash than a produce now player.

Crabtree is unlike the other three in this tier. He has decent upside, but he’s more of a steady player. He isn’t the top receiver on his team, but he’s playing on a high-powered offense, and he could produce great fantasy numbers for the next couple of seasons. He’s best suited for a team with a win now type of mentality.

Tier 9 – Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings

  1. DeSean Jackson
  2. Torrey Smith
  3. Markus Wheaton
  4. Nelson Agholor
  5. Will Fuller
  6. Kendall Wright
  7. Steve Smith
  8. Vincent Jackson
  9. Phillip Dorsett
  10. Leonte Carroo
  11. Tyler Boyd

This is where the tiers really break up into multiple different types of players. DeSean Jackson, Torrey Smith, Markus Wheaton, Steve Smith, and Vincent Jackson are all players that will produce this season, but are a bit older than more of the other players in this tier. Wheaton is an intriguing option because he’ll be starting for a suspended Martavis Bryant, and if he plays well, he could get a decent contract in the offseason and find new life in his career. That’s a big if, though, and far from a guaranteed thing to happen.

Agholor, Fuller, Wright, Dorsett, Carroo, and Boyd are all young players with good upside. They are all put in questionable situations, which will take away from their fantasy values. Still, they are high upside picks, and each one should be able to carve out at least some sort of production within the next couple of years, which is worthy of a selection in a dynasty league.

Tier 10 – Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings

  1. Terrance Williams
  2. Josh Gordon
  3. Jermaine Kearse
  4. Sammie Coates
  5. Kamar Aiken
  6. Rueben Randle
  7. Jeff Janis
  8. Mohamed Sanu
  9. Mike Wallace

Josh Gordon is the player in this tier that needs to be talked about. This list was made before his suspension was announced, and since he was reinstated, he should be part of the second tier, which was already published.

Each of the other receivers in this tier have good upside, but also come with enough risk that they may never be starting fantasy options. At this point in the draft, these players are generally taken for upside, although Wallace, Sanu, and Randle are three players that could produce decent numbers this season. Still, this tier is essentially filled with players that have more upside than current value.
