FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/7/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Joel Bartilotta highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 8/7/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

We have a fun full day of baseball ahead of us with almost every team in action. All of the games are spread throughout the day, so it’s dealer’s choice in terms of what slate you prefer to play.

Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Bartilottajoel

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Steven Matz, NYM vs. MIA ($8,600)

We always like using pitchers against the Marlins, especially someone who’s as inconsistent as Matz. This talented lefty has shown signs of brilliance and it’s tough matchups that have ruined his ERA and WHIP. A blow-up really shouldn’t happen here, with Miami ranking bottom-three in wOBA, xwOBA, runs scored, OBP, OPS, SLG and xSLG. Vegas appears to like Matz too, as he enters this game as a –210 favorite with the Marlins projected for fewer than four runs.

Brendan McKay, TB vs. TOR ($6,700)

McKay’s 4.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP may look like nothing special but this kid has all the talent in the world. That’s evident by his 1.15 ERA and 0.82 WHIP for his minor league career, which are some of the best numbers you’ll ever see. That’s backed up by a 3.54 FIP and 25 percent K rate at the Majors, which is only going to rise considering he had a K rate north of 32 percent at the minors. Toronto is a fantastic matchup too, with the Blue Jays ranked 28th in OBP, 21st in runs scored, 20th in K rate and 25th in wOBA.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Jesus Aguilar – 1B, TB vs. TOR ($2,500)

Why does Aguilar remain so cheap on FanDuel? The Rays acquired him right before the trade deadline and his spot in the batting order tells you everything you need to know. They’ve stuck him either third or fourth in four of his last five games and it’s clear that he’s back to being the stud that we saw last season. Over his last 22 games, Aguilar is batting .339 while generating a .625 SLG and 1.016 OPS. While we don’t know who’s pitching for Toronto, that’s a good sign no matter what.

Ozzie Albies – 2B, ATL at MIN ($3,300)

If you don’t already know, Albies absolutely obliterates left-handed pitching. Since being called up in 2017, Albies has a .345 AVG, .565 SLG and .941 OPS against southpaws. His OPS this season is actually north of 1.000 when he faces a southpaw and it’s clear he’s way more comfortable batting from that side. That’s huge against a guy like Martin Perez, who’s pitching to a 4.58 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Albies is scorching-hot right now too, hitting .315 over his last 51 games en route to a .925 OPS.

Matt Chapman – 3B, OAK at CHC ($3,400)

Chapman has quietly had another great year for the A’s and people need to start taking notice of how good this guy really is. He’s actually at his best when he faces a left-hander, with Chapman accruing a .354 OBP, .622 SLG and .976 OPS against southpaws this season. That’s huge against a struggling pitcher like Jose Quintana, who’s 4.40 ERA and 1.35 WHIP are some of the worst numbers of his career. All of that makes this price hard to understand and we’re going to keep riding Chapman until he gets above $3,500.

Tim Anderson – SS, CWS at DET ($3,000)

Anderson has had an inconsistent season but the numbers at the end of the day are quite impressive. A .312 AVG with 12 homers and 15 steals is very noble in 77 games played, and he’s actually got three doubles and a homer over his last three games. That’s big for a hitter who’s career OPS is 100 points higher against lefties than it is against righties and it’s definitely not a lefty we need to fear. The White Sox face Tyler Alexander, who’s only pitched 22 innings at the Majors and provided a 4.98 ERA ad 1.46 WHIP at the minors dating back to 2016.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Austin Riley, ATL at MIN ($2,700)

Riley has been mired in a nightmare slump for over a month now but his numbers against left-handers are still absurd. In fact, Riley has a .304 AVG, .383 OBP, .724 SLG and 1.157 OPS against left-handed pitching. That’s the guy that we saw at the minors too and we’re willing to use him in this circumstance despite the recent struggles. We already discussed why we want to stack against Perez and that’s also evident by the fact that the Braves are projected for five runs here and get a DH, thus guaranteeing Riley a spot in the lineup.

Eloy Jimenez, CWS at DET ($3,200)

Jimenez has an ISO north of .220 in his limited time at the Majors and that shows the sort of power potential this kid has. That’s actually lower than his averages at the minors and it’s even scarier that he gets to face a lefty. At Triple-A, Jimenez posted a 1.215 OPS against left-handed pitching and should continue to do that throughout his career. That sort of power potential makes this price truly shocking and look for Jimenez to be $1,000 more this time next season.
