DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/12/18): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on August 11th, 2018. Elliott Baas' MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We've got a 12 game featured slate on DraftKings today, and a few big spots from the usual suspects on offense. The Yankees, Red Sox, and Indians all take on bad pitchers, and there is of course a Coors Field game.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/12/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ElliottBaasBB.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Zack Godley, ARI (@ CIN): $8,700

Godley seems to have gotten his form back recently, allowing just one earned run and securing 17 strikeouts over 14.1 IP in his last two starts. He gets the Reds on Sunday, and while the Reds aren’t the pushover they appeared to be towards the beginning of the season, they still have a 95 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season. With so many high-priced bats on today’s slate Godley gives us good value in the mid-tier as an SP1.

Wei-Yin Chen, MIA (vs. NYM): $5,500

Chen has been lights out at home, posting a 1.94 ERA, 3.35 FIP, and 2.39 K/BB ratio in Marlins Park this season. He also gets to take on the lowly New York Mets, who are the worst team in baseball against left-handed pitching. On the year they have a 75 wRC+, 26% strikeout rate, and .116 ISO versus southpaws. There is always the chance his

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C – Austin Barnes, LAD (@ COL): $3,200

Yasmani Grandal has started four straight games for the Dodgers, meaning there is a good chance of Barnes being in the lineup on Sunday during a day game. Not only does Barnes get to play in Coors Field, he also gets to face Chad Bettis. Bettis has a 5.67 ERA and 5.25 FIP in 18 starts this season.

1B – Luke Voit, NYY (vs. TEX): $3,700

Voit started and hit sixth last time the Yankees took on a lefty, and he should have that same privilege today. For his career Voit has a .775 OPS and .234 ISO against left-handed pitching, and those numbers came while playing home games in hitter friendly Busch Stadium. Rangers’ lefty Martin Perez has a 6.04 FIP and 1.88 HR/9 allowed this season.

2B – Gleyber Torres, NYY (vs. TEX): $4,600

Out of all the heavy-hitting lineups today, the Yankees present the best value. Torres crushes lefties, posting a .925 OPS and .267 ISO this season. Perez has especially struggled against righties this year, with a .361 AVG and .585 SLG against. Torres hit third the last time the Yankees faced a lefty, and shouldn’t hit lower than fifth.

3B – Justin Turner, LAD (@ COL): $4,900

Turner is having a bit of a down year due to injuries, but he still has a .791 OPS and 121 wRC+ on the year. He’s still a good play in Coors Field against a weak pitcher like Bettis, who has reverse splits, posting a .296 AVG and .519 SLG against right-handed batters.

SS – Manny Machado, LAD (@ COL): $5,500

Because of Bettis’ reverse splits, right-handed Dodgers present a good value today. Machado has a higher OPS (.944) and ISO (.248) against right-handed pitchers this season. As one of the games elite hitters, Machado is a good value even at such a high price. Most of the other elite hitters are $5,800 or higher.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

OF – Aaron Hicks, NYY (vs. TEX): $4,700

The switch-hitting Hicks has been better against lefties this season, with an .882 OPS and .323 ISO versus southpaws on the year. Even if the human gas-can known as Martin Perez has a truncated outing, Hicks should hold the platoon advantage over any reliever.

OF – Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (vs. TEX): $5,400

Stanton dominates left-handed pitching, with a .343 AVG, 1.096 OPS, and .343 ISO versus southpaws this season. Out of all the Yankees to use in DFS today, Stanton is the best. He’s as good a bet as any to go long off Martin Perez.

OF - Marcell Ozuna, STL (@ KC): $3,500

Ozuna takes on Royals’ righty Jake Junis, who cannot keep the ball in the yard. Junis is allowing 1.93 HR/9 and has a 5.23 FIP this season. Kauffman Stadium hasn’t helped Junis either, because he is allowing 2.1 HR/9 at home. At this price Ozuna makes for a nice value against a pitcher with chronic gopheritis.
