Hey, RotoBallers! For the first time, RotoBaller will bring you dedicated in-season fantasy hockey coverage for the upcoming 2026-27 season in addition to our in-season DFS content. Yahoo just opened up its season-long NHL leagues, which means it’s time to hit the ice and get drafting.
Drafts tend to be won or lost in the middle rounds, where finding value is the name of the game. Grab guys who outperform their ADP while the rest of the league sleeps on them. I’ve identified players at every position who I think are being undervalued in drafts and who can help you win your draft.

Fantasy Hockey Sleepers - Centers
Morgan Geekie (BOS - C/LW/RW; ADP 120.6)
How frequently are you able to grab a potential 40-goal scorer in the 11th round of drafts? Morgan Geekie flourished in his third year in Boston, scoring 39 goals while averaging 2.2 shots on goal per game this past season.
That marked the third straight year we’ve seen improved performance from Geekie. He also provides a bonus of being an aggressive forward, producing at least 100 hits each of the last three seasons. Geekie excels on the power play, producing 12 goals with a man advantage this past season.
He looks to continue his streak of success this year as he is projected to skate on Boston’s second even-strength line and on the first power-play line next to David Pastrnak. While Geekie is mostly a three-category player, his multi-position eligibility allows you tons of flexibility as you round out the back end of your draft, making him an invaluable commodity after the 10th round.
Logan Stankoven (CAR - C/RW; ADP 140.8)
Logan Stankoven broke out in a big way during the Stanley Cup playoffs last year, recording 11 goals and five assists during Carolina’s 19-game romp to the championship. He had the best season of his young career last year, and at just 23, he is only going to get better.
Currently going in the 13th round of drafts, Stankoven presents a massive value, especially if you stack him late with linemate Jackson Blake (140.2 ADP) and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (97.7 ADP).
This trio was dominant during the playoffs, producing 36.2 shots and 5.28 goals per 60 minutes while putting immense pressure on opposing goalies with 18.86 high-danger chances per 60 minutes. That is an elite level of performance that you can stack late in drafts while still loading up on premium picks through the first seven or eight rounds.

Fantasy Hockey Sleepers - Wingers
Matvei Michkov (PHI - LW/RW; ADP 140.3)
For the entirety of the 2025-26 NHL season, the Philadelphia Flyers had a 2.42 GF/60, but that number exploded to 2.96 over the final 10 games. The player who led the way during that run was second-year winger Matvei Michkov. During that 10-game stretch, he was the team leader in even-strength goals (four), assists (six), and shots (25). He added another pair of shots and an assist on the power play.
Philly has an underrated offense and solid goaltending, and that should help continue Michkov’s progression in the plus/minus category. He sat at -18 his rookie year, but last season that number jumped to zero. A similar improvement this year would make Michkov a five-category player in standard head-to-head leagues.
He’s currently projected to skate on the team’s third line and second power-play unit, but he has the skills to be a top-6 skater as the year progresses. Currently a 12th-round pick, I could see Michkov paying off as a top-10-round pick as both he and the Flyers offense continue to improve this season.
Bobby McMann (SEA - LW/RW; ADP 129.3)
Bobby McMann found a home in Seattle, where he was one of the most productive wingers in the league during the final 18 games of the season. In the 60 games he played with Toronto before his trade out west, McMann produced 19 goals and 13 assists, averaging about 2.1 shots on goal per game.
In the 18 games he played with Seattle, he scored 10 goals, had four assists, and averaged 3.2 shots on goal per game. In fact, even though he only played 72% of the team’s final 25 games, he still was the top goal scorer during that stretch and was second on the team in shots on goal.
McMann is currently being drafted in the 11th round of drafts, but his run in Seattle profiles him as a 40-goal scorer who can help you with shots on goal and power-play points.
He can even contribute in the hits category, averaging about 2.1 per game for his career. I’d be comfortable drafting him a round or two earlier than where he’s going, and maybe even as a sleeper power-play stack with Matty Beniers, who is currently going undrafted.
Fantasy Hockey Sleepers - Defensemen
Brandt Clarke (LAK - D; ADP 104.7)
Brandt Clarke has slowly improved over his career, peaking in his fourth year with an eight-goal, 32-assist season in which he quarterbacked the power play for the Los Angeles Kings.
During the team’s final 25 games last year, Clarke was second on the team in power-play points and was third on the team with 10 assists. He also contributed to fantasy stats with two shots on goal per game and a +11 plus/minus rating.
Bowen Byram (CHI - D; ADP 111.7)
Bowen Byram had the best season of his career in 2025-26, putting up 42 points with a +15 plus/minus rating for the Buffalo Sabres. He was moved to the Chicago Blackhawks this offseason, where he will finally get to be a team’s top defender while manning the blue line on the power play.
Even with Connor Bedard expected to miss about half the season while recovering from a shoulder injury, the Blackhawks have an exciting young roster primed for offensive growth. That should leave plenty of opportunities for an offensively minded defender like Byram to pile up assists as he puts his young forwards in positions to succeed.
It would be shocking if he didn’t significantly improve on his six power-play assists from a year ago with snipers like Tyler Bertuzzi, Frank Nazar, and Patrick Kane on his wing with the man advantage. Currently going outside the top-30 defenders drafted, Byram could sneak his way into the top 25 if he continues his steady year-over-year improvement.
Fantasy Hockey Sleepers - Goalie
Sergei Bobrovsky (TOR - G; ADP 92.1)
Let’s give some love to the old goalies in the NHL riding it out with new teams. Jacob Markstrom, Frederik Andersen, and especially Sergei Bobrovsky. Bob is just one year removed from winning back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner struggled last season, but can’t we say that about the entire Florida team?
Maybe, just maybe, the team was exhausted from making deep playoff runs for so many years, and it just fell off a cliff for one year. Before this past season, Bobrovsky posted a .900 save percentage or higher for 13 straight seasons. Even with the team's struggles, he still managed to win more than half of his starts; the 11th time in 16 seasons that he’s won more than 25 games. He’s also recorded a goals-against average of less than 3.00 in 12 of the 16 seasons he's played.
Now, he goes to a Toronto team that is also coming off an incredibly disappointing season, but reloaded with the top pick in the draft and still has one of the most lethal top two lines in the league.
Given where he’s being drafted, we don’t need Bob to be prime Martin Brodeur; if he is simply league-average, he will pay for the price of admission. I don’t know if I love him as my top goalie, but he makes a strong backup or part of a platoon with another mid-round goaltender.
