Jose Berrios Moving to Bullpen
Jose Berrios is moving from the starting rotation to the bullpen, manager John Schneider announced. He's losing his spot to the recently promoted Trey Yesavage, who will take on the Kansas City Royals in his second career start on Sunday. Berrios had been penciled in for that game, but the Jays are demoting the 31-year-old as a result of a prolonged slump. After Berrios posted a 5.83 earned-run average in June and a 4.64 ERA in July, he has logged a 5.56 mark in three outings this month. Overall, Berrios has gone 9-5 with a 4.06 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, 135 strikeouts, and 54 walks in 164 innings this season. He's about to enter unfamiliar territory as a reliever, having come out of the bullpen in just one of his 274 career appearances.
