Rhys Hoskins Set For Encore Season With Phillies
7 years agoEntering the 2018 MLB season, the lowly Philadelphia Phillies have found their face of the franchise in Rhys Hoskins. The 24-year-old stormed onto the scene late last season to the tune of 18 home runs and 48 RBI in 50 games. While his batting average suffers, his plate discipline is steadily improving. From Double-A in 2016, he improved his strikeout percentage in Triple-A last season and managed to keep it in check in the majors as well. Position eligibility will be an intriguing factor in Hoskins’ upcoming fantasy baseball season. While he was a first baseman for most of his career, he was turned into an outfielder in preparation for his promotion to the Phillies last year. Looking at his 18 home runs last year and expecting his numbers for 2018 to be on that pace would be unreasonable. Expect a Gary Sanchez-like followup for Hoskins’ first full season in the majors, with a home run total in the 30s and an RBI total approaching 100. In terms of drafting, Hoskins figures to be drafted in the early-to-mid rounds of your draft, perhaps around the 50th selection.
