Rafael Devers 2022 Player Outlook: High Floor, High Ceiling, Still Too Cheap
3 years agoA lot of fantasy players hesitated on drafting Rafael Devers in 2021 after the disappointing .263/.310/.483 line he posted in the short 2020 campaign. Those who took the slight discount with confidence profited hugely as Devers went on to post a .279/.352/.538 line in 2021 with a massive 38 homers, 101 runs scored, 113 RBI, and five steals. He was one of the most valuable bats in the game last year and yet is still being drafted outside of the top 15 picks for 2022. Devers once again brought to the table the elusive combination of an elite barrel rate (15%) along with a low strikeout rate (21.5%), giving him a sky-high floor to go with the obvious ceiling. Devers now has two seasons under his belt where he cleared the century-mark in both runs scored and RBI (2019 and 2021). There are some questions still to be settled about the Red Sox as an offensive unit in 2022, but chances are they put another very strong group of hitters on the field to support their star third baseman. Devers has one of the highest floors in the league, making him a fantastic anchor for your fantasy team's offense in 2022 with a more than fair ADP of 19.
