Michael Brantley Looks to Come Back Strong in 2018
7 years agoCleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley is hoping for better health in 2018. Brantley was limited to 90 games in 2017 and to just 11 in 2016. He hasn't played over 150 games since 2014. Injuries have been a huge issue, but he's been very effective when he's been on the field. In his 90 games last year, he slashed .299/.357/.444 with nine home runs and 52 RBI. He underwent ankle surgery in the offseason, but the team hopes he will be ready for Opening Day. Brantley is a high risk fantasy asset, but one with potentially high reward. He was a 6.0 fWAR player in 2014, and put up 3.6 fWAR in 2015. A full season from Brantley makes him an excellent fantasy outfielder, but we never know if a full season from Brantley is a realistic expectation at this point. He makes for an intriguing dart throw in the later rounds, though.
