Mets Planning To Use Six-Man Rotation To Open The Year
The New York Daily News' Abbey Mastracco reports that the New York Mets plan to use a six-man starting rotation to open the 2025 regular season, but that will also depend on the health of right-hander Kodai Senga (calf, shoulder), who made only one regular-season start in 2024 due to multiple injuries. The good news for the Mets is that Senga said he's feeling completely healthy entering spring training this week, although the team will likely play it safe and limit his innings early on via a six-man rotation. Along with Senga, Sean Manaea, Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes should be locks for the rotation, with Tylor Megill, David Peterson, Paul Blackburn and Griffin Canning competing for the final two rotation spots. Megill has minor-league options remaining, so there's a chance he starts the year at Triple-A Syracuse if he doesn't impress in camp.
